I have personally seen these big black cats myself on two seperate occaisons.
I don't live too far from Stovies, I live in the country near to a town called Laurencekirk and there is a back road which I take over to Inverbervie - and this is where I've seen black cats. They were at the side of the road (in the grass beside a field fence).
Too big to be a regular cat or dog, DEFINALTEY not a fox. The literally were very large black cats...
Needless to say i totally crapped myself when I saw them and immediately locked my car doors - incase they have mastered door handles obviously!

recording is a bit noisy (helicopter was approaching) and mic on a make shift broom handle, as I wasnt going any closer. I still cant see the animal tho, and I am not going further into the woods (on big slope)

I just listend to that recording you did and what am I listening out for? I could hear what seemed to be a rubbing of wooden blocks and also I heard a very faint breathing sound? Not sure wether or not that faint sound was you.
