What is it that makes people hate Apple so much?

If you get flamed it will be because much of your argument doesn't make sense. OS X is borrowing features from its sister OS, and that means Macs will die out? That doesn't make sense. Final Cut Pro X is made by Adobe, not Apple, so the design errors are Adobe's fault, not Apple's.
.

I’d say the argument makes some sense, OSX is slowly evolving into a consumer OS, it’s not a bad thing if you use your PC that way but Apple are leaving their professional users out in the cold.

From a business perspective it makes for an excellent move, ipads iphones imacs and ipods are where the money is, and for most people they are powerful enough for everyday use. For myself and many others, including all the editors with a substantial investment in final cut (an apple product, not adobe) it makes Apple a poor proposition.

cheers flippant...lol
The logic argument that a lot of people I know is more telling as in the field of music making I'd say the Mac to Windows ratio is far closer than many other fields except possibly web design. Most people believe that Apple is slowly killing the pro status of Macs and not supporting the pro users as they are dumbing down the software too much by making them app store purchases with less content and features rather than boxed versions with all the bells and whistles...

Yup, I expect to get flamed I know. Yes Final Cut Pro X is made by Adobe, it's the changes in oSX Lion that have caused problems...same with Photoshop etc.

I suppose you could argue that either way. Maybe Adobe should be paying attention to changes in the underlying OS and working with them or around them as necessary?

Firstly, is market share going down? Secondly, if so, by how much? Besides, "premium" brands will always suffer during a recession.

PC manufacturers have got round to making their products better designed, like Apple do and that is also eroding their market.

Is it eroding their market?

Borrowing OS features means people might possibly move away from OSX onto iOS as they have similiar features, I mean witness the success of the iPad, it can't help your Mac sales can it? Loads of people I know didn't get a Macbook because an iPad did most of what they wanted, and came in at half the cost.

Given that Apple make both the iPad and Mac computers, I can't imagine they really care all that much if people are moving from Macs to iPads.

market share isnt going down..?

mac laptop and desktops saw a rise in market share in 2011

I personally think people hate apple because it has been so successful as a company, and we as human beings like to build things up and then when they get too successful bring them smashing down so everyone can say "ha, they failed!". Making ourselves feel better about our lives (which are far from perfect)

It's strange.

I have both a Mac Pro (for music recording), also an ass kicking over-clocked i7 with gtx 580's in SLI watercooled for PC gaming, I love BOTH computers and operating systems for different reasons.

I know people say Apple is overpriced for old hardware, but what about the design aspect? this has probably been mentioned before in this thread, but their products are of a good design and do feel/look like quality premium products, regardless of the internal specs. If you have the money then why not?

Maybe if Apple were in trouble financially everybody would start loving them as a company, human beings love an underdog!

Hmm, Mac sales are actually up, but less than other type of sales (like Android/iOS etc). And yes, given Apple make both Macs and iPads I guess they don't give a stuff...but that's part of the wider argument isn't it, like I said Logic owners etc. fear Apple is ignoring them. So, that's why I said the Macs days are numbered, why make a small niche computer when you can make tablets that sell by the bucket load?
Adobe are on record saying that Lion is flawed and doesn't work as Apple have said it should, and Apple said they have spoken to Adobe. There is no love lost there, but if Adobe stopped Photoshop, Dreamweaver etc. development, then there goes a lucrative slice of the market that would almost instantly migrate to Windows. The video editing community is supposed to be mightily upset with recent turn of events and suggestions are they are beginning to migrate away, so the question is how long can Apple keep on losing users back to Windows, as many first went the opposite way?

Also I forgot, it seems that iOS is more Apple's focus now than OSX, which has also annoyed many people. Add in that Lion hasn't been as stable as many people have become accustomed to, and it's successor has been anounced before it has been really fixed is the icing on the cake to some of my friends...

I own an iPhone and a 27" iMac, and I hate Apple, I love the products, kind of, but hate the company.

To be fair its not like they don't let themselves in for it, buy a brand new Mac with the latest OS and when you go to network any Windows PC's will show up and their icon will be a 1990's style CRT monitor displaying a windows 95/98 BSOD. Its that kind of smug elitist attitude that makes me loathe Apple, the are numerous examples but I think thats the best.

The fact that their still resorting to the unreliability of Windows 95/98 to make jokes in 2012 is sort of childish (especially considering that those operating systems were much more popular than theirs anyway).

but, who is to say, with the new 'metro apps' windows 8 is implementing, there wont be major issues with software, therefore where would these people migrate to?
lion is still relativly new as an OS so there will be teething problems, just like microsoft will have with windows 8.

personally, i use a pc and a mac, as they both have their advantages, and cant see how anyone could actually hate a company that isnt doing something wrong. yes if apple locked 5 year old asian kids in sheds to make their products whilst being whipped, a reason to hate would exist, but just because you dont agree with their price, advertising or even just their products doesnt really justify a reason to hate, just dislike.

I was under the impression Final Cut is Apple's own editing software, Adobe make Premier Pro & After Effects, both work fine on OSX. It isn't just them though, 3D Studio Max, a very established line of software doesn't run on OSX.

I'm sure Apple are lauging all the way to the bank, but then they always have been. The point is if you are a profesional user, Apple aren't really all that bothered about your custom, and while we can all vote with our wallets depending on how you feel about it, a lack of competition in the profesional desktop market wont benefit consumers.

I didn't say I hated Apple though, was just adding my opinion.....and yes Apple are laughing to the bank. I forgot to add my dislike of their dubious business practices regarding patents, but that's old news now really...

Its worth noting that more and more Autodesk products are becoming Mac compatible now.

But why wait for them to get it sorted, when a PC just works? :D

thats a bit naive, PC's have bugs and issues too, else updates, patches etc wouldnt be needed.

im sure if apple noticed a huge decline in one area of sales, they would look at a way to claw it back. some people might be moving to pc due to money and current versions of software being buggy or limited, but who is to say mountain lion wont be pretty bug free when released and windows 8 is full of bugs so the people switch back? im pretty sure that a company as big as apple will know when its time to implement something to get back its core customers.

I quite like Apple products but, like most people on a budget, price is an issue.

My beef with Apple is actually to do with the ignorant fanboyism of some people. Someone I know who is an iPhone 4 user bangs on and on about it like it's the most incredible thing ever and as if it does things that no other device possibly can. It's so annoying because she's being pulled in by the marketing - she hasn't got a clue about technology.

Auto cad was released on Mac recently. Reviews I read were fairly negative saying that performance was much better on PC.

But it's a joke, see? 'just works?' no? Mac adverts? anyone?......

I'll get my coat.
