What is 'woke' and why do we use it?

I'd say voting to leave the EU is taking responsibility for yourself.

How do you react to those that continually blame 'the tories' for everything, as seen on virtually every whinge thread on here. :D

I want to blame Churchill for everything but it’s a bit hard since he isn’t the one in power…

So, next?

Personally I'd give you 3 day ban as you deliberately created a thread with only one specific goal, to create divison and anger on the forum by asking a question designed to incite intolerance (on both sides), making everyone in here hate the place a little more and creating hassle for the mods, just as I said it would with the very first post, which I notice you "loved" so you know what you're doing is wrong.

However nothing will happen over your actions to hurt the forum and, instead of creating threads which "might/maybe" bring people together something which is sorely needed right now, you're happy clapping to yourself whilst you watch the thread burn.

Well................****'ing..............Done :(

Disagree its good to have a thread dedicated purely to the subject of 'woke', can condense all the nonsense into one thread rather than having a new thread everytime someone's brain explodes over 1 random pub renaming the ploughmans to ploughperson or whatever.

Isn't woke just a modern notion of political correctness but on a whole new level of insanity?

What is it when you don't agree with what a loud minority demand the majority to change in order for said minority not to feel threatened?

Woke - the realisation that not everyone and everything fits into the boxes or patterns that our primitive monkey-brains like to recognise, and that everyone is just a little bit different.

New rule. No threads on anything everyone doesn't agree on. Can't be having any of that free speech nonsense on here, echo chamber only. Thank you.

Sounds like you've gone woke.

Thankfully you don't have any moderating capability on this forum so that's moot.

Pointing out something that certain members of this forum rely on heavily - you're a prime example actually - isn't designed to incite intolerance; if I meant to do that I would have done so. It's too much to hope that it would generate introspection (on both sides, to use your words) but the faux outrage you've responded with is exactly the point I was making in my first post. Do you see that?

e: I didn't address this point.

I very much do the very thing you're saying I do not do. I want this forum to be a happier place where we agree to disagree now and again without going back to our own little 'side'. I'm the biggest cheerleader for this forum I know (source: me) and I love this place to death. There are lots of really, really good posters on this forum and I'd like to include you in that list but it's hard. This is also why I started the thread I did. Do you see that?

I think the world is bored. Nothing much is happening in the world, so people have time to worry about nothing. Social media is also giving people more exposure and a platform to spout their drivel and scream about entitlements.

We need a hard reset.
If you mean a visit from the Vogons I'm in total agreement.

Woke - Member of the tribe of Wocca, a Saxon chieftain.

Wocca's people settled in areas around Surrey and Berkshire, hence Woking (originally Wochinges, meaning the family of Wocca) and Wokingham (the town of Wocca's people).
Wocca also seems to have had some farmland, hence Wokefield, which is now a De Vere's hotel where very 'woke' people from very 'woke' companies go for corporate 'woke' training courses like 'Workplace Sensitivity', 'How To Accept Your Tranny Colleagues', and the ever popular 'How to alienate your core customers with a woke car commercial' run by the BMW Academy at Wokefield Park.

It's not "faux outrage", it's sadness that someone who should know better is, I think, deliberately causing division on the forum with this thread for their own amusement and then claiming thats its really about wanting to "generate introspection" which I believe is utter rubbish and I think that both you and I know that. Well at least I did from the millisecond I saw the thread title and then it was confirmed by your "love" reaction to my "its bait" post.

EDIT - just seen your update -

I very much do the very thing you're saying I do not do. I want this forum to be a happier place where we agree to disagree now and again without going back to our own little 'side'. I'm the biggest cheerleader for this forum I know (source: me) and I love this place to death. and you think the best way was to try to tear a tiny section of it apart by asking a question specifically guaranteed to create arguments and anger from people who will never, ever be able to see the others "side" was it???? I think that you only started this thread to create trouble, so you can sit back and laugh at the reactions, thats all and I will be very hard-pressed to change that opinion.

The reason I say that is that, if your claims were genuine, you could have chosen to start a thread on here about anything which could bring us together despite our differences (space, animals, kids etc) and yet you deliberately chose to create this specific thread instead, knowing what would happen. Now I also agree there's lots of great posters on here, however you and I are definitely not one of them for many, many reasons, but at least mine don't include what I see as deliberately trying to cause damage to something I claim to be a cheerleader of just for my own amusement.

If any of that makes it "hard" for you to include me as a good poster, feel free to add me to ignore if you like, I won't mind.

A spokesperson who stands for woke movement needs to explain what woke is, nobody here is qualified.

I bring you an expert at woke:

That faint whirring sound you can hear? It’s Walt Disney spinning in his grave faster than an F1 car’s turbo.

In other news, Anheiser Busch might be the new poster child for “Get woke, go broke.”

Mind you, using a man pretending to be a woman to advertise **** pretending to be beer is hilarious.
