Look at France and all the rioting and unemployment etc all the time.

America is too full of God.

The baby making dole people might be a good thing if you look at the future needs, places like Germany are not producing enough kids, so their population will decrease over time and there will be less people to support the older population.

I don't think his statistics were meant to be a 100% accurate. I understood perfectly what his point was and it is becoming a problem with all the gangs of youths who are hanging around.

Some parts of America are fantastic. My family lived in Atlanta and I went out there for a few weeks and it was just incredible. Everyone was really nice; no hostility whatsoever.

His whole post reeked of badly informed opinion, though. He cries about youth gangs and increasing crime, whereas in fact the number of offences committed by youths is the same as it was ten years ago. He moans about how dangerous it is to walk around towns at night, but I regularly walk around Slough, Maidenhead etc at night and I've never had a problem there. I don't even have the first clue what a "We don't give" society is so I won't even comment.

Pretty good point, all the "extra" crime is more likley to be crime we are now hearing about more due to having much greater access to the media, 24hr News Channels & the internet etc.

This whole thread stinks of the lack of respect for how fortunate we are. I'm damn proud to be English. We have been leaders in education science and art across the whole globe and continue to be. I don't think a single country has contributed more to the world than England.

If not then I think thats something to be proud of.

What good about Britain:

Tolerance
Sense of fair play
Reserve
Ability to actually abide by EU laws

Above all, having a good go at integrating cultures and ensuring a free, dynamic culture maintains our relatively prosporous position on the global map.

Happy St Georges day, we have a lot more to give than drizzle and hatred.

You won't get similar feats in modern society because that's just how it is. There will never be another Dickens or Darwin or Newton or world's best Navy as we had in the past. The world doesn't work that way anymore. Scientists don't get the recognition they deserve.

However, still, we have some of the best universities in the world. Only matched by the USA and Canada iirc. None of this NZ or Australia ********.

We still lead in science and business. We still have the biggest financial centre in Europe. We still have the 4th largest economy. All of these present things to be proud of are as a result of today's hard workers. If you can't be proud of that then what can you be proud of.

Most things you or your family achieve and that you can be proud of will be possible because of modern Britain. Many of which wouldn't be possible in other countries.

I'm also proud that our country actually gives a damn about other people than its own. More than can be said for the majority of apparently spineless countries in the world.
