What "man jobs" have you done today?

Built a tiger shed. Got it water-tight yesterday, but still quite a few finishing jobs left.

Shingles took bloody ages to fit!

yea looks good. what size is that? Im planning on a large shed to use as a mini workshop once ive got the driveway sorted out and the garden fixed then I can decide where it will go. Im downgrading from a 12x16 concrete sectional garage that was used as a workshop. Ive not got the space at the new house for something as big sadly

It's a 14x10. It's in a big garden, but I wanted something to blend in amongst existing trees and not be at all overbearing. 30mm under planning permission requirement too :D.

Can be priced up on the site, but ~3K for this particular one, as it has double glazing, guttering, and roof shingles which are extras.

Took my dad and I 2 full days (bearing in mind we had to stop at 7pm due to light) to get it water tight. I've still got a pile of jobs left.

A lot of bloody work goes into it, bearing in mind I removed a few trees, built the base, and still have to paint and do the alarm\electrics...

when my carpets were put down i put down 5.1 wiring to 4 corners of the room and had tails poking out at each corner with them all meeting where the amp will be.

Today (3 months) after mooving in, i got around to spending a few hours connecting them up and mouting the rear speakers etc.

Chuffed and also pleased to have my sound system back.

Please excuse the pipework, its another work in progress as is that corner, te room was skimmed but around the pipework and that particular corner is fairly bad cant notice it untill taking pics lol

Swapped out the first of three double sockets from an ugly wall mounted white box into a flush-fitting box, chased into what I thought was a dry wall fitted over the brick party wall in my attic room. Turns out there is no brick party wall up there - cutting a hole in the plasterboard just saw me faced with the back of the plasterboard of my neighbour's attic :p

Old houses

Changed a socket in the kitchen to one with USB charging ports, this is the debris I shook out of the old socket, not to mention the pile of it which was left inside the backbox!!!

Picked up this drill press and table on Gumtree for £60, after a bit of modifying to the table so it fit into my shed, I finally got it tidy. Hoping to do a few small woodworking projects.

Screwfix are currently doing double sockets with two USBs on them for 2 for £18. I've just fitted two in my house and they swapped over in minutes. 2.1A output (shared between the two) which means that we can charge tablets and phones without pulling out other plugs.

I had loaded up the car with stuff to take to the dump, ordered a click and collect from Wickes and was levelling an area of the garden ready for laying a patio and putting on a shed, when I got a call from a friend with a spare ticket to Ireland vs Romania at Wembley. Tools down, in the car, on the train, game on. Went to the dump at 8am and I'm picking up my order in my lunch hour today. :D

While the electrician is busy rewiring the house, i have been prepping the window sills, stripping the paint and removing the old silicone.
All the silicone and paint is gone now and they just need some plastering around the windows, painting then sealing up with some forever white.

On the list of jobs tonight is to begin marking where i want my network cables to go, and start tidying up some of the old wiring, then once the electrician is done, to go around and plaster round all the new back boxes.

where did you get the usb socket? ive always fancied getting one of them.

nice set up in the shed. what size is it out of interest?

I got it from Screwfix like everyone else seems to :D

The shed is about 10ft x 8ft, may need something larger in the future, my poor motorbike gets neglected and left outside in the rain and snow etc.

Foamed up some holes in my soffit that birds were getting into. Hope they have left the nest as I didn't want to trap any in. Thy usually make a load of noise in the middle of summer and I havent heard anything for a while so I am assuming they have left to fly south or something.

Also stripped the nasty Danish oil off my oak desk top and put a coat of Osmo worktop oil on. Went for the slightly tinted version to give a warm brown colour so it matches my dark oak flooring better. Really pleased with the results and it was so much easier to apply. Hopefully it stands up to wear and tear better than the Danish oil, I have been told by multiple kitchen fitters that its great stuff, so i'm sure it will.

I was thinking it was bigger. My shed/workshop is 10x8 and looks a lot smaller. Thinking of extending mine back next year as there is still a good 10ft of room behind the shed that is wasted space as the garden narrows slightly and I didnt want to go for a 10x6.

Wilco's have a good selection of USB double sockets with all types of finish. The nexus finish (doubles) are very nice.
I actually bought 2 from Wickes last week. wish I'd have waited.

6U cab installed in the new house. Wifi up and running, ethernet ports round the house will require a lot more work as I have concrete floors rather than the wood I assumed it would be.
