What "man jobs" have you done today?

Ripped kitchen floor up due to problem with screed/self leveller breaking up and coming through the vinyl floor.
Ended up tiling upto underside of units, re-painting walls and ceiling, re-plumbing sink waste as there was no trap, and finally just had a DPM and some more self leveller put down along with some new vinyl and new wall paper to one wall.

ohh that could be interesting... I hope she knows what you've been up to :D
just need to try and get it looking as good as possible for her coming back.

Indeed. All the building waste should be gone today, new blockwork wall up, plastered in hall side and door back on.

Need to isolate the mess, and return the other rooms to original state.

She knows what's happening, but I don't think she's aware of the disruption it causes. The more I can lessen it by Friday, the better.

..could just go to the pub on Friday lunch and turn my phone off alternatively :D

Cleared the lounge for new SOFA which arrived bang on time and 2 weeks early from DFS. (no doubt if i look it will another £300 cheaper than what I paid for it)

Hacked a IKEA lund (i think) TV stand by taking 250mm off it, so it fits in the corner of the room better.

There was no reason to buy a circular saw for this at all, but i did anyway. In hindsight a £8 saw would have done the job and maybe easier.

Completely relaid one of the slate roofs this week, had to ply and felt it first due to it only having a 10 degree slope. Proper job tho, plus installed a sun tunnel.

Removed the old rotton log store and built another

£15 worth of timber - some old scrap wood and few sheets of eaves plastic for roof- just need to fill it now

I also have the highest praise for Impact drivers - all that was screwed together.

Finally fitted the st/st cover over the cooker hood - 2 years after installing the kitchen.
Had a bit of a nightmare lately and ended up ripping the flooring up and the screed in the kitchen, having a DPM put down the re-screed then new vinyl.
Looks good again now though.

Cleared the lounge (bar the TV and 2 sofas) ready for the carpet fitter lifting the carpet tomorrow and the gas man disconnecting the existing gas fire and gas supply in preparation for the builder, in preparation of the log burner

That also reminded me i still had about 1/2 a bag of logs which needed removing from the builders bag

so un-bagged and stacked next to the store

Bags is now folder and on top of the logs to keep the worst of the weather off

May take the axe out and smash a few logs later :D
