What "man jobs" have you done today?

Finally finished the landscaping of the back garden over the weekend. 45sq m of turf laid. Just need to wait a couple of weeks before I can let it get destroyed by the wife/child. The delivery man wasn't happy with the turf company though, they put it all on 1 pallet, his tail lift was only ratified to 1.5t and the pallet was coming in at 1.4t...... He was a bit tentative off loading it!

Got a few before, during and after pictures for a thread to create when I get a chance to upload them all!...

Finally tidied up the gas and electricity meter boxes on the side of the house.

I put some perspex in the door of the electricity meter box as there was previously just a gaping hole. Then replaced the latches on both and finally scrubbed and painted them both. It's looking loads better now.

What shed is that? and What did it cost you?

It's a Norman Apex shed. Cost me £1199 from the shed centre. Comes with little to no instructions, but as long as you have more common sense that me you can put it together. Just remember to put the door in early as it slides down in the frame. linky

My man job was moving this 1700kg of top soil from the front of my house to the back ready to be spread out for seeding. Took quite a few wheelbarrow loads

5 tip runs last night to get rid of old bricks. About 10 more to go.

Dug out a tree stump. Worst job ever.

Opening in back of house being widened for larger french doors today, brickies in as I type. Doors being fitted Friday. Monday morning the flooring company in to screed, DPM and lay Karndean.

Then..I get to fit 80ft of skirting and picture rail, paint, and refit radiators.

Never stops!

Neighbour is slowly renewing rotton fence posts and putting concrete in - We have decided to keep fence as it is in good condition - My job is to pressure wash it and when dry it will be creosoted.

The pailing's will be cut off where I haven't cleaned moss off

Got to clean my side up yet and support gravel boards.

I installed a new 2m stretch of guttering and down pipe last night. Its part of the job to improve drainage by the extension at the back. Water seems to collect against the house due to the angle of the block paving and the room inside does suffer with damp.

Next job is to take up the paving and relay it angled away from the house.

Blocked drains - solids right up to the manhole lids :o borrowed some rods but couldn't shift it so had to get a pro out. He couldn't shift it with rods either and had to jet wash it. So perhaps a failed man job. :(

I forgot to take before pictures. :D

So far we lobbed an orange about 50m, over the garage (outside the photo) and on to the drive, getting one into the wheelbarrow in the first pic. :D we decided that was enough testing at the moment so are waiting til Sunday to take is somewhere with more space. Then we may do a watermelon and some rocks! We are hoping heavier will go farther.

I finally got around to wiring some speakers into my bathroom. I had them in my old house and have missed having music in the shower. Just need to get up in the loft tomorrow and wire them into my system. The longest part was cleaning the mess from cutting the holes! It's now the only room in this house of horrors that is pretty much complete.

I also swapped out a couple old yellow radiators and put new TRVs on. Three down, six to go, but they need to wait till I've got the upstairs plastered.

I run Logitech Squeezeplay for my streaming, so I've got those speakers hooked up to a small amp then a Squeezebox which streams from my server. I've got a couple O2 Jogglers I use in other rooms running SqueezeOS but as I don't have power in the bathroom I wanted a headless set up that I can control from my phone.

:D

They were certainly interested. Probably crazy as well, but we had goodwill on our side after ripping up a nasty broken concrete drive and replacing it with new block paving... :p

Looks tidy, really need to get round to installing my bathroom ceiling speakers, had a Sonos connect amp sat around for 12 months doing nothing.
