What "man jobs" have you done today?

Please tell me the process and products for sealing the drive? I want to do mine.

Go on adseal.info website and buy driveway super sealer I got 25 litres for my 75 sqm drive used basically all of it , phone them up as they do big discounts. They are in Bolton I just go on shop for driveway stuff

Day 1 - jet wash drive or use proper patio attachment. Be careful only to remove 10-20mm of your old sand.

Let it dry out and do not park car on it

Day 2 - re sand with dry kiln sand, just poor on and brush in to all the gaps. Use a leaf blower and feather the throttle to remove any access sand and dirt on the drive. Obviously don't use full power or you'll just blow the new sand straight out the joints.

Apply first coat with roller. Look on YouTube for the method basically be generous but roller in properly.
Wait an hour and then do second coat. Lash it on in the opposite direction

Leave 24 hours before parking car

Scorchio out there today and joined the suburban chorus of lawnmowers and jet washers

Cut the grass - then put the paddling pool out for the kids

Fitted a new waterbutt

Racked even more moss (game over now, no more)

Put up new bathroom cabinet

Went to the tip oh and built a cheap chimnea from B & M

New patio, re-used the old paving (after a quick jetwash) that was previously a kind of patio held in place using gravity.

Since taking the pic I have done a bit more grouting to neaten it up.

Filled in the old pond to make it a raised bed. Used about 40 x 25 litre bags of top soil, which went on top of several inches of gravel and a load of topsoil that was under where the patio was. It was pretty deep!

Just to give you an idea of the depth (after putting in all the gravel) here it is in use as an inescapable child play pit.

Put up a load of hanging baskets as well (not pictured). Next job is to bring the level of the garden down as the last owners just put a few tons of gravel down, meaning the level has gone up. Ground level is about 3" higher than all our neighbours, it is more noticeable now I have put the patio in lower than the DPC (as it's next to the house).

I've got to do something similar with the new borders in my garden as we've created planters using sleepers. Whilst not being any where near as deep as yours we still need at least another 10-12 bags of top soil and there has already been 4 x 125l bags of compost gone in them and 1 bag of top soil already!

Wickes seem to be best priced as they have them on a 4 for £10 offer atm so will pick some up during the week most likely!

Please when you have finished yours, pop around to mine and do the same job.

Will provide tea and "chocolate hob nobs" (only the best)

The worst bit was when I had finished - then remembered that I hadn't cleared the wee offshoot bit and had to put the boiler suit, gloves and mask back on!!

The problem I have is the previous munch-kin owners decided to board over the entire loft space using what ever left over bits of wood they could find and what is underneath is just well old and flat.

To qualify for the free stuff from British Gas all the boarding needs to be taken out, so while I am it might as well get rid of the insulation thats been down since 1950.

I've got to replace ours at some point - any reason you removed it rather than just putting annother layer over the top?

I'm getting the loft sprayed for woodworm and then insulating at rafter level to make the loft properly useful until i have enough cash to convert it fully.
And it was really old stuff so U-value wise the same depth of new insulation would outperform it too

Spent the weekend stripping and sanding paint off my porch to make it ready for repainting. What a tedious, tedious job :/ Got it done, and painted, though, just in time for the rain :)

Lifted and relaid the 1000 year old block paving around the back of the house. It was leaning towards the house and causing water to collect. Many of the blocks disintegrated when I lifted them so I'm a little short now. I will be able to replace some with standard sized block paving. They are wider, longer and thinner than modern block paving.

Just got to lift a few more and lower their height to direct water towards the drain and then mortar in the new blocks against the house.
