What "man jobs" have you done today?

I used 5mm ply, drilled holes through the ply and into the wall.

Then used screws though a cup (showing on the front face of the ply), the ply then a rubber washer to stand off the wall and take some flex and screwed into the wall using rawl plugs.

Set a new shed base on concrete fence posts, just to the ground being a complete pig....
4hr job I thought...... 6.5 hrs later and the posts are in but still ground to prepare and shingle etc.

Nightmare should have paid a man to do it :)

False ceiling joists up in spare room. Ripped down ceiling in kitchen extension and now planning a skylight. Love scope creep that actually makes me go backwards in terms of progress.

Sanded down two 6 panel sashes, polished the brass bits, re-aligned the security bolt holes, ready for painting with Zinsser perma white - hopefully will stop the black mould and will be easy to wipe down.

Only 5 more windows to get through.

Started on Saturday to convert our inherited summer house into the outdoor "Sports" Bar (Forgot to mention the Sports bit to the wife though!). These are the pictures where we left it on Sunday midday! It was too hot in there to work, think we'll have to invest in a good AC Unit!

Job for tonight when it cools down, put all the insualtion back on the walls ready to be boarded.

My dad's old A4 that he uses as a mobile tool box decided to throw a hissy fit and launch 5th gear out the side of the gearbox on Friday.

so after pulling it off the motorway I asked him what he wanted to do.. his attitude was theres no point on him getting a new car for it to get wrecked with his tools and the stuff he carries..
(hes 72 and works part time as a plant mechanic) due to his age he cant get cheap insurance on a wee van we have tried.. so his old A4 is a make shift van!!

so after a few searches online and several phone calls cheapest gearbox we could get was £180!!

I picked a complete car up for £100 on Sunday and spent £40 in fuel towing it home on the trailer..

so Ive spent today pulling out 2 gearboxes and ordering a new clutch kit.
tomorrows job will be fitting said clutch kit and the replacement box.
