What "man jobs" have you done today?

I reckon just changing what's left of that trellis and giving it a new lick of paint would make a massive difference.
Yeah you're probably right..............although I have just started to investigate cedar batons . I also see for the wall that Marshalls do fancy wall coverings...

Edit: tbf the fence has collapsed the other end of the garden so maybe I should prioritise that

Fitted a threshold cover for the third time and I'm finally happy with it lol. Too much compromise in wanting none visible fixings so had to admit defeat. I'm that pleased I took a picture lol. Had to go extra wide think it's a 60mm one  .

Wow! This is unbelievable! I replaced a bent one of these going from tiles to carpet today.

I definitely did a better job with mine though.....

Rather than starting another thread, anyone have any advice about replacing an old fluorescent tube with an LED lamp? Is it easier to just rip out the old thing and just add a new light? This is an old kitchen so don't need anything posh/smart, just want to get rid of the fluorescent tube if possible.

Having done both before now I'd fit a new led lamp rather than just replace the tube with an LED version. More even light spread an lower power from the new lamp than the tube.

Definitely replace the whole unit. They are cheap enough.

I was about to say the filament bulbs will finish them off nicely. It is funny my 1930s house has some of the 'near' original light fittings and they aren't far from what you have there. Be prepared for cacking your pants when throwing on a jumper/towel and knocking them. I've got super lucky the last 2 or 3 times

Further work, mrs wants to keep the table in there to put the pram on it, and I wanted some CCTV cameras, so I turned my Lack table into a Rack table.

And replaced my little firewall with a UniFi Dream Machine SE. Bit more work to do, I'm going to get a patch panel to sit underneath which will tidy it up more and maybe a tray for the Hive and Harmony hubs as they are just taped to the underside behind the UDM. I'll also need to remove all wall plugs and clean up the plasterboard ready for painting to tidy it all up.

No pics but I also tidied all the cables behind the TV unit.
Little bit more work on this today. Waiting on some nicer patch cables as these red ones are old and quite frankly too short! Got a tray which is coming tomorrow which should finish it off. Going to have to redo the loft cable so it’s out of sight, as well as the one to my office (white cables bottom right). Then make up a WAN cable to punch down to the rear of the panel.

In an ideal situation I’d fish the telephone socket to the loft but I’m not sure it goes all the way up without obstruction, plus pulling a cable through would drag a load of insulation with it. Why oh why they have put bloody telephone cables into every room in a house built in 2017 is beyond me, load of cat6 to the loft would have made my job far easier!

That's starting to reassemble a min server :p .

Ordered this yesterday morning and had it arrive today:

Samsung Heatpump Dryer. I cheaped out and saved £80 by getting the non-smart version.

First I doctored the drain pipe as I couldn't be bothered with the condenser drawer situation. I only had one appliance fitting annoyingly so had to bodge the top bit with a piece of spare pipe. This'll all get fixed when I learn the space a bit better and decide what this room actually is.

Fitted - like a glove.

And whilst I felt this was extraordinarily expensive, I think it was a good shout:

Was the drawer an accessory? Seems like a handy addition.

I've had my washing machine and tumble dryer entering a pipe same as you've got there for a few years. Not had any problems.

They're the only utilities using that pipe and there's no bend, so no issues with smells or blockages.

Yeah - £100 retail but £50ish through the Samsung Network shop. It locks the dryer to the washer as well from a safety stand point.

Very nice.

Quick question that may save you some grief later on...or hopefully not.

Have you used the tapered waste pipe previously?

I plumbed mine into a tapered waste pipe and got the dreaded E3 a few times and worked out that fluff etc was clogging the filter in the tapered pipe, which I removed and have been problem free ever since.
