What "man jobs" have you done today?

I had this little job lined up so went outside to get something and door hinges squeeked.
So got the oil spray and did the door then tried another door -same and same with another door - So one quick job rolled over to three doors having a bit of maintanence.

Couple of days worth, but the 2nd coat of yacht varnish has now dried.

Again taken a few days to get to the final stage, but we have our front door now :D

Thats going to be a pain when its raining.

It's all part of it becoming a more eco friendly home :p

There will be a flat roof portico installed eventually which will divert the rain water to drainage, but that won't be installed before a temporary gutter re-routing!
If it is super temporary you can get those guttering bags which seem like such a genius idea (props to whoever invented them). https://www.tradepipes.co.uk/6-inch-temporary-downpipe-6kg?source=googlebase
(the same is on eBay for a tenner)

Big day for me yesterday as I finally cleaned the recycling wheelie bin and stuck my house number/street on. I have a full set of labelled bins now. The clarity of mind because of this is enormous.

I did my 1930s living room door the other day, the thing is now bloody lethal. Little one almost lost her foot it swings so freely.

It's taken until now to recover from shifting that little lot, so no thanks, I am no longer an efficient worker at my age :)

I look back at the wind storm here a few years ago and wonder where I managed to find the time and energy to clear that lot up... So I am slowly taking down the iffy trees near buildings and fences before the wind brings them down in an uncontrolled manner.

We had some REALLY big oaks come down this year across some neighbours' access road, so I had to get professional help in to shift those as none of the neighbours could get in or out except on foot. Luckily it was an insurance job and the tree men came the same day they came down. Trees look wonderful ---- Until they blow down.

Not today, but last month. 50 plus foot tall pine that was dying and likely to fall on the green shed. Done in the day including logging up the trunk ready for splitting for firewood, and piling up the brash for burning on the bonfire. Got another one to do this month :(

Did you do this yourself or get someone in? I have a few trees that need felling and I've no idea how much it costs, I don't think I'm prepared for how much!
