What "man jobs" have you done today?

Over the last 3 weeks the downstairs bathroom has gone from this:

Today I was plumbing everything in. Still a few finishing bits to do but it is getting there.

Looks good Vince, but what's that dark strip along the tiles underneath the toilet?

ahh the grout got wet when i was draining the system... when the grout is wet it goes a dark gray. When it dries it will look normal again. At least i think that's what your talking about. I still need to run sealant around everything that needs it including the back of the sink tile edges to walls etc

Not today, but over the weekend:

My study / mancave / crud dumping ground went from :

Broke down the old, huge and heavy desk

Cleared the wallspace

Battened the walls

New beech worktop as a desk

Placed the kit to judge where the cable holes needed to go

Took delivery of the essential component

Unpacked

In place with just a little cable management left

Still need to sort out the touching up / painting where the shelves came down and sort out something on the walls to take the bare look off, but all in all well chuffed :)

Where'd you get the wood top from? And what type of wood is it? How thick is the wood, does it bend in the middle at all when you're leaning on it? Looking to do something almost exactly the same myself, yours looks good!

Thank you :D

It's a 27mm 3.00m long solid beech Worktop from B&Q - £87

It's sturdy enough with the battens but I wouldn't fancy standing in the middle if the Worktop

It's fine for normal use but you could put intermediate support / a leg in the centre or support either end reducing the span with drawers or something

Perhaps a pair of beer fridges ? :P

Spent the past 4 hours in the loft attaching ethernet cables to the rafters to make it easier to trace the cables. Next stop is a patch panel.

I'm feeling quite sweaty now though :(

Opened up another of the fireplaces today, this one in the dining room. Went from this,

Need to remove the two old pipes and fill in that gap, then I'm going to have the plasterer board it out. Then I'll drop in a nice piece of stone for the hearth.

After that I'll probably put a small wine rack in it and some shelving near the top for cookery books as it's just opposite the kitchen.

Also replaced the old T&G pine floorboards in the bathroom. These will be re-used elsewhere as the whole house has open floorboards and they'll fix broken ones before its all sanded and repaired. Then laid a new chipboard floor. Just need the plumber to run some new pipes for the shower/basin and it's good to finish off with the ply and then vinyl. Annoyingly I forgot to take some pics of afterwards so will have to do those later!

Oh and I brushed/cleaned the lounge fireplace that I opened up before. Went from this,
