What "man jobs" have you done today?

Made a tip run yesterday to get rid of excessive cardboard from when the bin got half emptied a few weeks ago.

This sort of stuff kills my garage space so quite cathartic.

Not been on here much as been trying to desmoke a ten year old Am2+ pc I built a relative that they no longer want.

It's going in the garage I suspect, just as a research tool when doing console / controller repairs.
It's funny how tidying up after yourself/other jobs from previous weeks is as dopamine inducing as the actual job sometimes lol. Getting my floor back in the workshop is better than sex tbh

Lifted a steel up for my shed above the French doors

Boiler leaking via Pressure relief valve to outside wall, replace the PRS, tyre valve at the expansion vessel inside the boiler, added a 12L expansion vessel (RED tank)... All working now and no leaks anywhere.

I suspect the 10L tank inside the boiler is too small for our 13 radiators since we had done a few extension over the years, the water in the loop is very mucky and will need a flush and inhibitor which will be done when the weather turns and heating need to be on again.

I've got serious shed/life envy!!

One day... One day, I will have the same.

Think of the possibilities  could have a nice little (big!) workshop in there

Is the tree in front of it going to cause issues?

The windows are open around the tree as a sort of feature. Yes that's the plan it could be used as a workshop or office in future if needs be. For now I just want it to look nice externally and fill it with all my tools :D

Did you drill pilot holes?
No need with an impact driver :D (i had to buy a 2nd as my old impact driver died...

I am adding some nails eg where there is double headers.

Got some (most) beams temporarily in but need a temp tarp over it as I'm going to be stopping for a week. What's the best way to tie it down? Was considering it I could just use clamps with a bit of roofing batten above it @dlockers any thoughts?

My circular saw also died today so not very happy with my only 7 year old makita gear!

These lengths are 3.9m and dammed heavy when doubled up rough Sawn 5x2!

I bought a dpc as it was more water proof and cheaper than a tap. Just clamp some wood to make it weigh down (y). Looks mega well done

Future man job coming. Working downstairs and hear an almighty crash and discover this in the ensuite

Lovely puncture in the tub, just lucky it didn’t break the glass I guess.

Now to figure out how to put the glass back in without wondering when it’ll fall out again.

Silicon the tub hole for now so can still shower till figure out a proper plan?

That was lucky no one was in there - That is my nighmare - Our shower has two sides of glass at 8MM thick and wife closes door with a bump. I have seen those Youtube close ones where shop doors just disintegrate when someone opens or shuts them.

Yup very lucky.
That stuff is mega strong, when we ripped the original en suite out here we tried breaking the glass will all sorts, in the end we gave up and borrowed a van to take it to the tip.
Yeah makes sense as that’d be pretty much the worst place for glass to shatter/explain why your todgers all cut up!

Need to see if it’s safe to refix it, hard to have faith when I can’t really see why it fell, there doesn’t appear to be any damage to the hinge so it’s like it’s just gradually come loose/lost adhesion in the hinge.

Or find my wife sabotaged it as she wanted to swap for a walk in shower anyway/wants the insurance pay out for me.
