What PC games are you playing?

I've only tried Forza Horizon 5 and I couldn't get on with it at all. The characters seemed to be non-stop yapping, and they were annoying. Cars were just constantly handed to you.
It looks great and felt fun to drive around, but I came to the conclusion that I'm too much of an old man for it. :D

Forza Motorsport 7 was more to my liking, but you can only get that through dubious means these days, and the menu UI was bad enough to make me stop playing.

I was curious as well, it does look decent, but the last similar game I liked was Test Drive Unlimited and it's been quite a while.

Is it an okay game to just jump in ,drive around for 10-15 mins, have a race or 3, and then quit?
Something like Need for Speed underground 2?

I hear some critisism that you're bombarded with events and information and it has some kind of social stuff, I just want to race/drive around in nice cars and enjoy the scenery?

How does the car handling compare to various games? Similar to Race driver Grid? Similar to sims liks aestto corsa or project cars? Or more arcady like classic NFS or GTA ? Or full blown arcade like Sonic or Trackmania?

Yeah it's a good game to just jump in to for short periods, there's a crap ton of things to do so you can just slowly work through them. Car handling is pretty good, fairly arcady instead of sim, game engine is good as well, it plays pretty smooth.

Main criticism was like above, it just bombards you with constant chat from the in-game characters, feels like a game made by design committee and on it's X generation. You basically are building up and promoting the in-game show brand, being a social celebrity, do stunts to gain more followers etc. Can be a bit of a turnoff if you're not much in to social media

Sounds good, thank you, I will be buying it when I see a nice sale somewhere!

At this moment I'm replaying NFSU2 on Ps2 so first finish that, I'm bout halfway through that game now though!

You could look at FH4 as well, basically set in Britain with more varied weather and terrain, drive around a miniature Edinburgh. FH5 is Mexico with pretty much all desert terrain. Technically not a huge difference between them

Currently playing back through HZD then on to the DLC never played on release. Game still looks and plays so well

Tried W3 and RDR2 but uninstalled them both after a couple of hours, really can't be bothered with games with bad controls and combat anymore

I went back to playing The Crew 2 over FH5. The driving is definitely not as good as Forza, although is a bit better once you open up the pro settings and mess about.
The world is very enjoyable to drive around in though, and has a load of races/tasks/challenges to do. It's been out for so long also, so I'd imagine you could find it for dirt cheap.
Worth looking in to if you just want to drive around.

Apart from the train sims (SimRail due out in January is promising) and MSFS, going into 2023 want to revisit a few of the old ones.
Picked up Mass Effect Legendary edition in the Steam sale, totally pumped for that one - seeing ME1 with decent graphics, being able to run ME2 without the disc in the drive (probably wouldn't install either, now MS outlawed Securom) and of course ME3 with that stupid multiplayer requirement which has been removed in this version. A back to back play through on the cards. Just waiting for Steam to chug through the mega download.
Fallout 4, might have one last run through though last time I tried to play the game just insta CTD as soon as I moved.
Elite Dangerous - one more hike to the top of the galaxy.
X-Rebirth and X4. Really need to give these one last bash.
Deus Ex MD - started that a while back but drifted off from it, unlike HR not aged well.
Snowrunner - still need to finish the original Russian maps and start exploring the DLC more.

Going to be a busy year.

I have aliens fireteam on steam, I play with one other friend , would you be interested in playing together ?
Absolutely! My friend code is: 9237796

@Thread: currently playing Kena: Bridge of Spirits - utterly charming game that (considering it's UE4) runs really well on PC - I picked it up on Steam for 50% off and was expecting it to be a twee third-person action adventure thing but the boss fights are hard as nails! I really like this one :)

Yeah, all the yapping is indeed very off putting. I would probably play it more if not for all that crap. Something about it that does not draw me to the game :(

I have not really enjoyed a driving game whether it be a sim or arcadey one in a very long time. I remember trying Gran Turismo 6 or was it called GT on the PS4 Pro and boy that was boring too. And I loved Gran Turismo 1 and 2 a lot back in the day.

Play Assetto Corsa with mods and fall into the rabbit hole. Trust me it's endless.

must give this one a try, the original 2002 mafia was a classic
The OG was amazing but this tops it in every way, graphics are beautiful, combat is great, good cut scenes, the atmosphere and 1930's America is spot on.

Metro exodus started a playthrough, athmosphere, graphics sound all good !!
I finished 2033 Redux yesterday and am about to start Last Light. Got Exodus on the sale and can’t wait to get to it. I’m an occasional gamer so want to make the effort to get through them before the weather turns better and I have less interest shutting myself in to play :p

Started Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus last night, didn't give it long! It started 10-15 minutes of pointless video & cutscenes, them I'm in a submarine, in a wheelchair somehow gliding through submarine hatches. Does it get better?!

Today, I fired up PUBG: Battlegrounds for the first time. Still seem to be working through 'tutorial missions' but seems pretty good. Not a fan of there being lots of different guns/ammo. Just seems unnecessarily complex.
