What PC games are you playing?

Mostly playing Warhammer 40K in Tabletop Simulator at the moment.

I also downloaded a load of demos in the Steam Next Fest thing so I've got those to go through and I've started a playthrough of Diablo 2: Resurrected after booting up Diablo 4 for the first time since finishing the campaign on release and not knowing what the **** was going on. It's basically just an MMO at this point. Only up to level 8 as a druid, but very much enjoying D2:R.

I'm slowly working my way through my Steam library to see which games work on Linux (and to see what I've actually bought in bundles and sales ), and for those interested the answer is almost all of them. Out of 200 games only 5 don't work so far.

Currently on Heroes of Might and Magic III HD which brings back memories as I used to play it 25 years ago with a mate. Disappointingly, but unsurprisingly, I still suck at it
:)

Ive been playing valheim after giving up on it at release, ive just got to swamp again which is where i stopped playing before and im still enjoying it, ive also just bought a steam deck so it should work great on that and i wont feel so bad using a 4090 to play games like valheim.

Also been playing the demo of delta force which im mostly enjoying apart from a bit of jankyness and lag.

Just picked up Forza Horizon 4 after hearing it was about to be delisted plus 80% off the Ultimate Edition on Steam.

Seems quite good fun if a bit arcadey and it does seem to be pushing/hand holding at the beginning with just the start out car. No idea when the dealers open up to grab some different vehicles.

Generally more of a rally simmer but I have heard good things about FH4, certainly graphically quite nice even if the area is only probably the size of the map in GTA V.

That's also been my experience of gaming on Linux. The only games I've tried that simply haven't worked are Destiny 2 which I was only trying because a friend talked me into it and the demo for that Delta Force game. Everything else has been flawless.

Also been playing some HoMM 3 through Heroic. I also suck at it!

Destiny 2 used to work on Linux when it was on the Blizzard launcher. Once it moved to Steam Bungie actively blocked Linux users from playing by refusing to enable the Linux EAC bit. Apparently they are vehemently anti-Linux, or so I read. It's one of the 5 games that don't work in my list :).

7 Days to Die - having watched youtubers playing this for ages (Glock9 , very entertaining) i finally got round to buying it and becoming addicted. needs a couple of mods to make quality of life a lot better but, once tweaked, its a gem of a game.

I finished Minishoot Adventure. Not the hardest game and took me about 8-9hrs to 100%. I really liked the blend of twin stick shooter with zelda/metroidvania elements.
Anyone recommend any other games like this?

I've picked up Empire of Sin as a simple little strategy game to kill time. It's not worth the full price or the DLC prices but for £12/13 it's a good time sink. Although I've managed in this save to monopolise the middle of the map and have little in the way of opposition right now.

Was playing Borderlands 3 for a week or so after the special event where they gave away a bunch of diamond keys.

Got a little bored of it, so decided to give the original Borderlands game a try. Haven't played this in years. I am playing the GOTY Enhanced version.

There are a few quality of life things that I wish the older game had, like Fast Travel for example. And the shops are much easier to use. But I think the graphics and whole tone of the game is much better suited for the Borderlands games than the next two games. I had forgotten just how gritty looking the original game was.

I am playing as Brick and playing as Lilith is much easier so I understand this might not be a fair comparison. But Borderlands 3 is a walk in the park compared to BL1.

Yeah, Bungie are anti-Linux and have no plans to ever support it.

I only switched from Windows earlier this year after suddenly having constant issues with Windows 11 (file manager stealing focus from full screen applications every few minutes - apparently still a bug without a fix) but my experience has been a very positive one so far. I'm really not bothered if I can't play games with kernel level anti-cheats and I'm not into any eSports titles.

Picked up Thief Gold, Thief 2, and Thief 3 the other night for £3.07 having never played them. Thief has definitely aged in terms of graphics, but it has great atmosphere and none of the modern gaming tropes like the world's clumsiest painter having gone through the level before you, there's no knee-high grass to hide in, and you don't have x-ray vision. The GoG version supports modern resolutions and just worked out of the box.

Played this through a few times over the years. Tried to move away from Mordecai a few times. Never could.

1 is my favourite Borderlands game. I didn't really like 3. Far too many annoying characters, and I agree that it was far too easy.

I played it through a few times as well. Never as Brick though, because I hated his skill trees. Hated melee and hated rocket launchers. Still do. Mordecai and Lilith were my two favourites.
