I really enjoyed ABaC, I thought the food was great but the staff could have been better... They started off really nice but towards the end just appeared to drop down the dish and not explain anything. This compared to Lasarte, where they were the most attentive ever, it was a bit annoying.
Food though was just fantastic.

Not cheap mind, it was about 240EUR a head with coffee, champagne to start and tasting menu with matching wines. I'll get some pics up

Ate at Grafene last week and tried their 7 course tasting menu. Sadly I didn't get any pics but the Mrs did.

By the looks of it they have changed the tasting menu but this is what is on it at the moment ...

7 COURSE TASTE OF GRAFENE MENU

HOME-MADE BREADS

SQUASH BISQUE, KING OYSTER MUSHROOMS, BROAD BEANS

PIGEON BREAST, HAGGIS, CEP, APRICOT

WILD TURBOT, TARRAGON EMULSION, MANGETOUT, SMOKED ALMONDS

PARTRIDGE, KALE, PEAR, PANCETTA

HIGHLAND VENISON, GARLIC, SWEETCORN, BUBBLE & SQUEAK

DARK CHOCOLATE GANACHE, FIG, WHISKY, RAISIN

the only course that was on when we had it was the Turbot! Highly recommend it though, food was great and even better as it was 50% off through September.

Last week ate at Le Train Bleu in Gare d'Lyon in Paris. Wonderful restaurant setting, a magnificent building, both inside and out. Didn't take any photos of the food, but I've got some of the location.

  • Champagne and appetisers to start;
  • Smoked salmon with pickled ginger and lemon chutney, potatoes and salmon roes.
  • Knuckle end of leg of lamb cooked in its juice, grenaille potatoes, ceps mushrooms, garlic and parsley;
  • Brie cheese from Meaux;
  • Crisp chocolate and orange cake with chocolate mousse.

Restaurant located at second floor arched windows:

Stunning!

For my last birthday meal of the year, I was taken to Outlaw's at The Capital Hotell. We knew it wouldn't be up there with Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, but we had a very nice meal. A good 5 course taster menu, consisting of:
Cured Salmon,
Brill,
Octopus,
Cod,
and Chocolate

The service was OK and the wine list was quite expensive, but the food was very nice.

Restaurant Sat Bains - absolutely top notch food.

Asked for a copy of the menu to take home and got asked if we'd like to visit the kitchen to meet Sat himself. Brief chat with him, he personalised and signed the menu :cool:

Not last night, but Thursday night we had dinner at The Hand & Flowers then stayed over in one of their rooms. As always the food was faultless. There apear to have been lots of staff changes, I didn't recognise a single person.

The following day we had an early breakfast at The Hand & Flowers (cor, that black pudding is excellent) then went to The Coach for a thoroughly delicious lunch. Yum.

Ate at a place called Barrica off Tottenham Court Road last week. It's on Goodge St. Lovely little place, excellent Tapa's, (acorn fed pork was awesome!) at a fairly reasonable price though portions could have been a bit bigger. They've also got a Sherry menu and a G&T Menu. Tried a couple of sherries with the meal but still not a great fan of it. The G&T's were nice, tipple of the day was either the No209 with Orange Zest and Mediterranean Fever Tree or the Ferdinands Saar with Quince and Fever Tree.

Would recommend as a good place to eat.

Had our worst restaurant experience I've ever had on Saturday in Hakkasan Mayfair. They forgot one of our main course dishes (there were only two dishes on the order, so it's not like we swamped them with requests). Then they acted as if it was our fault and an inconvenience to sort it out, with absolutely no apology of any kind. Then they wanted us to pay a full tip at the end. Couldn't believe it. My main course was great though, but it quickly went cold whilst waiting for my girlfriend's food to (never) arrive.

I was in Vienna the other week and ate at the 2 starred Steirereck (https://www.steirereck.at/) which is No. 9 on the Worlds 50th Best. It was amazing. Went for lunch, and had the tasting course. I've eaten in 11 Madison Park, Le Bernardin, Guy Savoy as well as a good handful of 1 stars. This was my first 2 star. I thought the food was better than anywhere I've been before. The service was great, very Michelin and you knew you were in Austria! Not particularly friendly, but efficient, knowledgeable and happy to help.
All in all, amazing. I particularly liked that for each course they put a little card in front of you (you can see them in some pictres) with information about the dish, and with the more unusual ingredients a little bit more info. I really enjoy getting a menu to take home, and these were a great little souvenir.
Here are some pictures:

The restaurant is situated in the middle of the Stadtpark, which has lots of statutes of famous composers. This is the most famous, Strauss.

Amuse Bouche, the bread on the right had Austrian black pudding through it, delicious!:

Glazed Sturgeon with young Marchfeld Artichokes, Cape Gooseberries and Olive Herb (I was a bit eager to get into this one, as I have never eaten Sturgeon before so the picture is after me having a bit):

Me, quite merry at this point! I was a drink behind. Matched wines for each course, and two for the cheese. I was in heaven.

After desert, they pushed this imitation beehive over and shared some honey with us. Great fun, and delicious end. Much better than a macaroon!

Goodmans, City.
Went for 550g chateaubriand, mac & cheese, beef dripping chips, and bearnaise sauce. I asked for the steak medium rare but the centre was very rare, but that niggle aside, it was fantastic! STEAK!

Goodsmand is amazing, took the missus there for our 6 months anniversary. Went to hawksmoor for our 1 year and was disappointed after having great food there 3 times before, just wasn't up to past meals.
