What Retro Games Are You Currently Playing?

I used to love the Dizzy games, never managed to finish one though, the closest for me would have been the Megadrive version but death is always close in that game lol

I've been playing a bit of Thrasher Skate and Destroy for the PSX recently, it was a bold move from the developers going for a sim like approach but I think it was the right move.

Ah, mistiming a jump and rolling to your doom never gets old! I actually think I'm worse now than when I was young :p Good fun though :)

It's the traps that get me - either forgetting the trap at the top of the tree house or a bad jump and rolling into it. It is frustrating but that's over now! I'm on to Fantasy World - at least I have 3 lives in that one!

I started Metroid Prime last night on my Gamecube. It's the first time I have played it since it first came out all those years ago and I am having so much fun. Can't wait to get back on it later lol!

Dave Mirra on the Dreamcast at the moment. Absolutely loving it. It has been a while, but smashing through all the challenges so far. I have picked up a modded original xbox as my crystal one has been taken out of action for the foreseeable (bulging caps). Looking forward to playing Crazy Taxi 3 and Dave Mirra 2!

Played through Silent Hill over a couple of nights, I was devastated that I got the bad ending lol. What a game, slept on it for years despite loving the second. Even bought a PS1 copy from this very forum for such a bargain price years ago!

I loved silent hill but being unemployed at the time I had to get a CDR copy from a friend (who had a nice job and could afford these things) and do the disc switching thing to get it to run on my PS1. Even better, the CDR copy (don't know if this was an anti piracy effort or what) only ran in black and white. Being a huge noir detective fan (and tbh any other B&W films) I thought this was awesome and intended. :) It wasn't until an awfully long time later that I discovered that the game was actually full colour lol. Still can't play it in colour to this day. :)

Currently playing Football Manager on the BBC Micro emulator BeebEm and Vice City on PCSX2.

Was the black and white due to NTSC on a PAL system? Either way, that is quite cool. I can see how B&W would work with the game tbh!

I have been playing through Code Veronica X on the Dreamcast, about mid-way through. Thinking about finally completing Dino Crisis next after so many failed attempts :).

After the Silent Hill 2 remake, I want to tackle Silent Hill 3 and 4. Anyone got any fond memories of those? I never got to play 3 back in the day, but picked it up on PS2 a while back, 4 I vaguely remember playing a demo of.

If I remember rightly it was using the RGB with NTSC games on PAL systems, required the correct Scart cable that would then also support 60Hz for NTSC over the 50HZ PAL, and yes you could use the pen lid trick to switch the disks and get imports and copies to run.

I recently played through Resident Evil 1 again on the PSX Emulator, next up Silent Hill 1.

Nice, if you ever feel like playing RE1 again, I highly recommend the 'true directors ' cut version.

The version of Resident Evil I played through recently was the USA version of 'Resident Evil - Directors Cut', I don't know if that is the 'true' version or even what the differences are. When I played through it originally on PSX many moons ago it was the Japanese version Bio Hazard and had just come out.

Have you seen the game Hollowbody? that has just come out for PC it has similarities to Silent Hill.

It's a mod of that game with some additional bits pulled from the beta etc. Not worth playing through again, unless you feel the urge to play it again!

I haven't seen that, I will check it out. I saw this last night which also looks an interesting retro-like survival horror game:

I completed treasure island dizzy (amiga) and Fantastic adventures of dizzy (NES) with my then 4 year old over lockdown. i loved them as a kid, and still love them as an adult!.

recently i have been playing (depending on your definition of retro) crash bash on the ps1 - with my now 8 year old..... and badlands on the ps3. also went back to shadow of the beast - its still hard!.
