Hmm speedtest.net is being OcUK'd methinks, the London server and Amsterdam are really slow, my server is 100mbps up/down so it's not me. I get about 5mbps to London
TalkTalk cannot provide ADSL Max until they have unbundled (LLU) an exchange. Currently they only have 3 or so unbundled exchanges being used with a few of their customers who are on the LLU Trial. This trial hasn't finished yet and only begun in mid-July. I'd expect to see TalkTalk beginning to unbundle some of their 1,100 pending exchanges in 3-4 months.
Thanks, sounds like they are cheating me....I was told the connection speed is 24 meg...hold on one sec. This is what im on and what i pay for every month. https://www.bethere.co.uk/homebroadband.do
Do you think the results tally with what im sold? Sorry to sound noobish, i am rubbish at things like this.

NDO (Namesco) ADSL Max, less than 100 yards from the exchange
Before 3pm, with multiple threads in a download manager I can scrape 7 meg, after 3pm I get around 1 meg speeds regardless of how many threads I use. The support is useless, the service is useless and they screw you if you want to leave within in the first 12 months.
That's not a bad speed for a 2Mbps service. Remember you are never going to get the full speed on a speedtest due to overheads, background programs using bandwidth, heavy local traffic, heavy traffic on the remote server (it's being OcUKed ), distance from exchange, quality of line, distance between router and master socket, etc etc etc

Further to the above, as with all BB providers it is an 'Up To' 24Mbps service, the provider is in no way obliged to provide the full speed if it is not possible in your case. Though if you are getting that sort of speed maximum all the time it may be worth seeing if you can get a cheaper 8Mbps service as it should provide a comparable speed
