What time do you turn up for work?

Usually in the office by 8:15 at the latest. Helps me get some stuff done before breakfast and the morning round of standup meetings. Also have Pilates/Yoga twice a week at 9am so can get a few things done before those.

Shift starts at 7:30 so I turn up between 7:22 - 7:24 & finish at 5:45, 4 days on & 3 days off.

shifts are 06:30 - 14:30 and 14:30 - 22:30, normally turn up bang on 6:30 for the early and about 14:00 for the afternoon shift.

we work a callout system so sometimes in in at 02:30 for the morning shift if its required.

Very early if I'm on a cover shift, like this week, don't have to start until 10, but I was in at 7:16. My gf works around the corner so we car share and she starts early and can finish late, but it's not exactly strenuous work and I'd rather not sit in 40 minutes of traffic from 8am if I can just breeze to work in 10 if we leave at 7ish.

Non of that drinking and chatting though, just get to my desk and see what needs doing really.

Oh and I'm on Flex Plus here so I get it all back. :)

15-30 mins before shift start time.

I'd rather be in and have my van loaded up ready to leave my stock location for my start time as I'll either do more work and earn more money or if it's quiet then I'm going home early.

When I'm on afternoon shifts I usually aim to be in 5 minutes before shift starts - on 6am starts this week :( so dragging myself through the door at the last minute.

After 10 years of afternoon shifts I think having to get up for a 6am start is actually going to kill me.

Start at 8.30. One train gets me in at 8.35 so I get the train before that and am usually at work by 8.15, at which point I will use the toilet, grab a drink and faff about for 15 minutes.

I've changed my hours so that a normal day is 8-4pm, which avoids the worst of the London rush hour on trains etc.. However, I'm a salaried employee and senior enough that I'm expected to work the hours needed for the job - so not unusual to be in a meeting finishing much later than that.

I tend to get in about 10 minutes early, when I start working, but do also eat my breakfast. A full lunch break is a luxury, but doable if I really want.

I leave on time when I can, and stay late when I have to. My work appreciates that, my manager appreciates that, and so when I want to head home a bit earlier as I'm off on a trip up north or something else, it's not a problem and doesn't require annual leave.

Start at 9:00, but typically arrive between 8:40 and 8:50 to get a few things done so it isn't a huge rush at 9:00. Meant to leave at 17:00, but I'm generally pulling out of the carpark at 16:59 even though there is about five minutes of shutting things down to be done before I leave :p

I also don't take my full allocated one hour lunch, I usually get bored of sitting at the kitchen table after 40 minutes :o

I had a boss who always made a huge deal about turning up exactly on time for everything, but then he went home exactly on time too :/

Which is annoying when the job mainly requires a lot of out-of-hours working.
But doing that was never praised, but sitting at a desk at 9:00am waiting for something to happen, was?

I find it a bit odd that so many people attach such an exaggerated importance to this, when simply getting the job done is what you are there for.

I prefer to get into the office early so that I can leave early. at the moment I'm doing 7:30 am to 4:00 pm but then finish at 3pm on fridays. I prefer to get in to the office, sit down, and get on without anyone else there for at least 1/2 hour. plus getting in early saves me a 15 minute walk in the morning and evening due to the company car park being full by 8am.
