What TV shows are you currently watching

Just finished Star Trek:Voyager

I did watch it back in the day, but now with streaming services thought I would go through this again, I hadn't seen all the episodes and couldn't remember it that well.

What can I say about Voyager....

Seven seasons in total, the first few seasons were pretty bad. Both characters Kes and Neelix got a lot of screentime in the first few seasons, both in my opinion were very poor characters. Kes was just wet and in my opinion pretty poor acting, and I found Neelix anoying. The epsidoes in general were just quite poor.

They binned off Kes and more or less replaced her with Seven of Nine around the start of season 3 and it significantly improved after that. I mean, she is easy on the eye sure, but better character and the episodes seemed to improve after that. Neelix also got a lot less screen time after that.

Both Seven of Nine, and the Doctor were really strong characters throughout, the Doctor probably being my favourite, Tuvok being a Vulcan allowed some interesting character interactions. Janeway I guess was a bit of an icon. The other characters weaker, the whole american indian thing with Chakotay just looks very cheesy and dated now.

Overall though I feel there were a lot of "filler episodes" throughout, they went for quantity over quality, although I guess to a certain extent they are trying to appeal to a wider audience, however every now and then they would throw in some really good episdoes, and the good ones were really good. The series also did give you a good sense of their journey, for example throughout the seasons the races they would encouter would change and they progress through the Delta quandrant, it did give you a feel of the distance they had travelled.

Probably go through Deep Space 9 next.

4 episodes into Mayor of Kingstown and Renner absolutely shines in this, it's leagues apart from how the Yellowstone writing has dropped off over the last 2 seasons - I guess Sheridan is focused on this/Tulsa king much more now.

Finished 1899, its not a patch on Dark which actually made me want to think about what was going on.

Started off well but this was a bit of mess of uninteresting characters that didn't go anywhere and I didn't really care about any of it. Not sure ill bother with season 2.

Also been watching Rise of Empires: Ottoman. Docudrama, quite interesting with decent acting and set pieces..looks like they spent some money on it.

Just finished the walking dead
So what happens to Rick ? I want to know who the hell has took him.
Is there going to be another series?

TWD new series:

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon
The Walking Dead: Dead City
The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne
Fear the Walking Dead new season

And the Civic Republic Military (CRM) took Rick - well Jadis took him to them.

1899 sadly is just a bunch of "cool" ideas slapped together and borrows heavily from concepts in other popular media. Lots of things in it are of no real importance to the overall story, etc.

I kind of wish they'd gone down the cosmic horror route with it as many elements would have worked really well for that and was kind of the impression from the early trailers.

I watched season 1 of Slow Horses last week and about 2 episodes off the end of S2 at the moment. As others have said, it is very formulaic and by the numbers, however Gary Oldman makes up for that. There's no real shocks and turns, everything is fairly well sign posted but it has a certain charm and allure and will be watching further seasons.

2nd watching of The Expanse.... It really is a great show

Couldn't finish it. Lasted 5 episodes.

Glitch
Just finished watching glitch on netflix.

Looked like random tat.
Its Australian. And damn, you can tell! Some of the content you would not get away with in the UK (non PC).

But its good. It actually follows its own rules quite well. And it explains where they are questionable quite well. Kept me guessing until the end. Completely unknown cast to me but acting is solid.

Worth a watch.

Some of it is quite emotionally deep. And my favourite part? It feels real. People's reactions to scenarios are understandable.

FYI. It has a proper ending and wasn't cancelled.

Mystery Road: Origin

Its series 3 but luckily it was a prequel as I hadnt seen the others.

Got the film then series 1 then the next film and then series 2. Its as complicated as the Marvel stuff with Dare Devil, luke Cage and the rest watching them in the right order.

Season 2 of Vikings: Valhalla: three episodes into the second season, it continues it's "Vikings tribute band" feel - and while a tribute act might not match up to the original, if you like the that original then you'll still enjoy it.

Is the prequel any good?

I watched the first 2 last year and they were ok ish.

Stilll want to see the prequel though.

Paradise PD - S4.

First 2 seasons were great, s3 - good.

Just started S4 and it's not the best. Very random stuff and over the top - living in people's asses, tons of poop jokes - trying too hard to be Rick and Morty-esque with its randomness now and not in a good way.

There was a good story and it was funny, seems the writers have run out of ideas and have gone for shock and poop jokes :(

I thought I would give it a try because I like scooby doo,
the show is horrible, I struggled to watch the full first episode, gave up halfway.
I dont think anyone read anything when agreeing to make it, this is just using the scooby brand and characters but nothing is similar, the show would not have even got past approval stage IMO if they did not use the scooby doo.

Well its just him when he was younger and just joined the police after being a bit of a tearaway when he was younger. I really enjoyed it. But there is something I really love about Australian films/TV shows.

His even younger earlier life sounds like it would be a good film/series of its own as well.
