What TV shows are you currently watching

I watched that recently out of boredom it isn't bad but I struggle with the comedy side of it, though there were some hilarious moments, behind a lot of it is actually some quite heavy themes if you stop and think about it.

It is interesting with season 2, not sure if it was the original intention, they've taken some side parts of season 1 and fleshed them out which takes it an interesting direction.
Indeed. The final two episodes suddenly got much darker with a lot less humour. Though some of the plot devices
Discovering John Paul had hidden his deceased father in the freezer, then Becca accidentally killing JP's mother thinking it was JP took things a bit too far.
Not sure it needed a second season TBH, but we'll be picking that up after Silo which we're starting this evening.

Silo - Fallout without the humor, quite enjoyed this overall and ended up watching it over 3 days, you have to switch off to some of the world building mind (how does an entire population loose its entire history and capability?!).
Book 2 goes into a lot of the background as to how and why the Silos came about - probably should spoiler this
but a deliberate decision was taken by the architects of the Silo's to suppress any knowledge of the previous world "up top" even to the extent of adding mind control drugs to the water supply and in extreme cases eliminating Silos that evolved too close to the truth. The winning Silo was meant to emerge back into the surface world free of any knowledge that led to the mistakes humankind had made, completely fresh start.

Though I'm not into the more social drama side of it, pretty strong second season so far to be fair, they've taken some of the minor characters/side plots from the first season and developed them quite interestingly and a couple of interesting new characters.

(Bad Sisters) Watched the first episode last night and yes, a good setup for the rest of Season 2.

The only slight wrinkle to me is the show very much ignores the more downtrodden side of Dublin. All the characters seem to be well off and live in affluent areas with good jobs. No vandalised tenement buildings, back to back terraced houses or the endless rows of grey pebbledash council housing with spaced out individuals lurking around. Maybe that was a conscious decision on the part of the show producers.

Oh and rather than a new post... Silo Season 2. Got to say I loved the first episode. Seemed drawn in much closer to the book and at the end we did presumably get our first glimpse of Jimmy, though slightly at odds with the source material. There was also a hint of things to come with the flashback sequence where they were sat at the bottom of the Silo with the drilling machine behind.

Just started to watch S1 of Bad Sister - enjoying it so far
As I just noted above it's a very good show, darkly funny in places. However it does try to paint Southern Ireland in a rather halycon light where everyone is living in posh houses, driving expensive cars and relatively well off in addition to projecting a more liberal, diverse and tolerant society, not dominated by the Catholic Church and its doctrine. Dunno, it's years since I visited the Republic so maybe it has moved on with the times. In fact it looks as if the main protaganist in S2
is being portrayed as something of a religious nutter and even in S1 JP was dragging his daughter to church for confirmation and on first name terms with the Bishop.

Just started Paramount's new show Landman.

First 2 episodes are very good and Billy the Bob Thornton is superb.
I do like a Taylor Sheridan series but I can't stand weekly episodes so I'll wait a while.

finished watching season 4 of murderers in the building

dont know what next, I watched episode 1 of the penguin and will probably continue with that

I look forward to it every year too and it's part of my ritual to Christmas.

Except I don't have the restraint you do as I binge watch each weekly episodes in one evening!
Started our annual MasterChef the Professionals watch for 2024. Always a joy to watch people in the industry come and blossom. And some great food too. Only finished EP 1 yesterday and there's already nine there! So with moderation should see us through to crimbo.

Watching this as well at the moment, I'm trying to watch it slowly, on episode 7 and won't watch more till next week.

(Currently also watching Hells Kitchen USA, I watch almost every Ramsay cooking show, might create a cooking show related thread at some point).
