What University do you attend and what do you study?

What University do you attend?

Ravensbourne College (Art College)

Subject

Computer Visualisation & Animation to give its full name, but its more towards the animation side.

Period

1st of 3 years.

Do you like what you're doing?

Yeah, im learning loads and a lot of it can be quite fun although some of it can be a real git. We have to use Maya, which for a beginner might as well all be in Japanese.

Career Ideas

Tons, from here i could go into animation, concept art, layouts, modelling and many other things in mediums such as film, tv or video games. Ideally i would love to work for Pixar doing character animation and design. Or be a comic book artist, but ive been told by my lecturers that you have to be bloody good to do that.

University of Plymouth

Architecture - 3 Years

Was ok, was there 3 years. Course was very design base and now looking back i should have gone to a more tech base University like Bath. The social aspect was fine, made some good friends. Some nice places to go out, the city is a nice size and easy to get around. Never had to get a Taxi home after a night out.

University of Brighton

Post Graduate Diploma in Architecture - 2 Years

Course is really good, the professors knows their stuff, the field trips aboard was Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaantasic. The Student life is the best, the City is amazing and plenty to do.

University of Glamorgan

Post Graduate Diploma in Law/CPE and now LPC - 1 Year for CPE, 1 year for LPC

Love the course, love the materia taught, best decision i've done when converted from Architecture to Law. Social/Student Life wise is a bit pants compared to Brighton, since the uni is a campus uni away from Cardiff. Nights out require a Taxi fare (about £20-£25) back at night, so it's hard to do all the time.

Could've gone to a 4th Uni this year actually, got accepted to Swansea University (went to check it out and everything) for the LPC but i thought it was too much trouble to up roots again when there is only 1 year left.

Off topic, but do you know where i could get some info on converting to law after uni, as having done chemistry and hated it for 3 years, wishing i'd done law in the first place, I'm seriously considering converting after I graduate.

You need to apply to the Central Application board HERE, not the University. You pick 3 uni too apply to and for about £3500 upwards to about £4500 you can do the CPE with can convert your Chemistry Degree to a Post Grad Law degree. I know a guy with PHD in Chemistry did that last year in the same uni as me, he's doing his LPC at Cardiff at the moment.

University
Birmingham

Is it good?
Yep, I like it. The campus is really nice, and there is plenty to do around uni and in town.

What did/do you study?
did: Theoretical Physics and Applied Mathematics.(MSci)
do: Acoustic Cavitation in Sonochemistry (PhD)

Do you like the subject(s)?
They have their moments.

I like it when you can do purdy pictures like this:

you wouldn't know about the velocity potential?
When I say "I wouldn't know anything" I use it in a strange sense. The sense in which I really mean "I'm not an expert". My knowledge of fluid dynamics goes up to some very basic lubrication theory - I never really 'got' boundary layers at all.

What are you studying?

Bsc Computer Games Technology

Period

Course is 4 years (scottish honours degree is 4 years.. england is 3)

im just over half way through my first year.

Do you like what you're doing?
The university isn't that great in a social aspect but dundee also had dundee uni which is full of students (the city its self is something crazy like 15% students!) so you're never really bored. The course is good, its a challenge (in my first year doing GBA developement using assembly/C :O)

Career Ideas

No idea.. and don't want to think about it yet. Travel before anything.

Dundee rules, I was at Dundee Uni doing computing. Parties every night! Man i miss student life.

University - What University do you attend?

University of Cambridge (finished last summer)

Now at the College of Law in London doing the LPC

Subject - What are you studying?

Law

Period - How long is the course and how much have you done?

The law degree was 3 years (which I've finished) and the LPC is a one year course (which I'm doing now)

Do you like what you're doing? - Do you like the University and do you like your chosen subject area?

Cambridge was fantastic! I really enjoyed my time there. The degree was interesting (except for a few comulsory courses, but on the whole, great) and challenging (but that's the reason I applied to Cambridge). However, I was so relieved when the 3rd year exams were finished as I'll never have to do difficult exams again :p

The LPC so far has been a joke. So far I've only done the compulsory units but it's nothing like Cambridge (I didn't expect it to be though). I honestly think that there is no need for the LPC - most of the stuff we do could be done 'on the job'. Most of the compulsory units a monkey could do (I might change my mind however when I get my results :p ) - and the standard of people doing it should be higher - a lot of people on my course/in my class make fundamental errors and really dont understand what they are doing (which imho, if you haven't got at least a 2:1 or a 2:2 from a top uni then you shouldn't be going into this area - but this is a separate debate!).

Anyway, I've recently started my electives which I'm hoping will be more interesting (I'm hoping to specialise in either Employment, Family or Commercial law).

Career Ideas - What you're looking into, and list any job(s) you've been offered.

I have a training contract sorted with Mills & Reeve in Cambridge (I loved the city so much I've decided to live there).

University
University college of the creative arts , Epsom

Subject
Graphic Design

Period
Almost finished 1st of 3 years

Do you like what you're doing?
Course rocks , tho the area is a little sucky , and its not a large uni , basically a college

Career Ideas
Graphic design probably ;D

Nobody at University of Kent? Madness!!

University
What University do you attend?
University of Kent @ Canterbury!

Subject
What are you studying?
BA in English, American & Postcolonial Literature

Period
How long is the course and how much have you done?
3 years, almost finished year 1

Do you like what you're doing?
I love it! Except for the history side; people don't realise just how much history there is in literature. For most of my modules it feels like I'm mixing history, psychology and sociology with a dash of literature :/
The university is utterly lush; accommodation, staff and buildings are super. English rules.

Career Ideas
Planning to either do a postgrad in Theology here at Kent so I can be an MA, or moving back to Oxford to do teacher training at Brookes.

The fact that your boyfriend is going to be there has nothing to do with your decision at all, right? ;)

Maybe :p (Actually, I think I got my training contract before he decided to apply for a PhD). However, I think me being in Cambridge did influence his decision ;)

Well that's ok, because I don't bother with them either. :D
