What Virtual Reality games are you playing?

I apologise if that comes across as aggressive melmac, but you couldn't be more wrong with your blind shot at it. Even after nearly 5 years nothing has come even close to matching up with what they accomplished. You want a game of pool in VR, it's the go to game.

No problem, no offence taking. But, It wasn't a blind shot, everyone I know that has bought it, hasn't liked it. Too many problems and not worth the price. The only thing that might make a difference is that everyone I know who owns it is either on the Quest or Quest 2 and are playing the Steam Version. I am just giving the advice that my friends gave me, try to get it on sale as it's not worth the full asking price.

I've got back into Subnautica, now I've got a 3090 and even that card can't run it at max detail level in VR at a constant 90fps on my Index. I've had to dial things down and reduce supersampling. Makes me realise how good the motion smoothing was on my old Oculus Rift as I used to play this at 45fps at Rift resolution on a 1080ti and it worked great (though looked nowhere near as sharp and clear as on the Index).
I completed Subnautica on pancake mode and loved it - one of the best games I've played in a long time. I hope the sequel gets VR as it would be awesome to try with the Quest 2.

The installation guide is here:

It is a bit of an involved process, but the Wabbajack program automates 90% of it.
For best results you need a Nexus Mods premium account, which allows faster automated downloading. That cost £3.50 for a month but is well worth it.

The end result though is a radically improved game, with better visuals, full IK body presence, voice activation and many other improvements.

The biggest issue is the game is much more prone to crashing.
Yes it is. I've had this weird bug where the screen flashes sometimes at the edges - this only happened after leaving Whiterun. It might be reprojection due to not hitting the 90hz consistently. Although I have a decent graphics card maybe the 3700x is letting me down here.

When it works though it's great - much better than vanilla Skyrim VR.

Problems, in what way?

Struggling to see you're other point about the Quest/2 and steam VR, do you have any basis to this?

A co-worker gave me a game (online) on his quest 2 without any issues, it's been something we've done a few times before when he had a vive. Affiak the game has been fully compatible with oculus touch controls for years too, i've had loads of matches online against oculus users using them.

To be honest i'm surprised that they haven't considered relaunching on the Quest platform. It'd sell like gangbusters, it's an incredibly sociable game, has the perfect in game asset structure for the more casual audience, and as i said still the only pool game of any quality in VR that even despite being nearly 5 years old looks better than most stuff released today.

Poor controls and very buggy. But, the biggest problem of all, according to them, was that it was mainly empty most of the time.

I am not really making any point about Steam. Maybe it plays better on PCVR headsets like the Index than it does on Quest/Quest 2, maybe your friends were playing the Oculus version, not the Steam version. As I said I don't have it, I was only considering the differences between your headset and their headsets as a starting place as to why they might have had more problems than you

Or maybe if you love Pool games and this is the best pool game out there, then you will have a different opinion and like it more.

I don't think either developer is still going.

Honestly the controls haven't changed since the original inception, never had a problem with them tbh. Plays perfectly fluently, and has gathered positive response over the years. I do see a few recent 10/20 minute reviews on the steam list citing the game as being non responsive in very short statements, but they're easy to dismiss when you look at a more detailed eloquent review from less than a month ago saying it works and plays perfectly fine on his quest 2. That review did highlight some non working features, but non that hindered the core gameplay. Indeed as i said a friend of mine has zero issues with it his quest 2 having previously played it on his vive against me online. (which would imply he has the steam version)

Granted a five year old game has a quiet life online (10 users peak on the steam version in the last 24hrs), but friend match making is easy, people do show up randomly, and the AI is very good on the harder level.

It's worth noting that the game had quite an intensive development over 3 years, completely transforming the game from being a bare bones PCVR pool game to a crossplay bells and whistles experience with a ton more content. People calling out the developer for abandoning the game need to know the history and look at the release date, they listened and added features per community request. I myself was one of the first people to call for the in game screens on the wall to show personal videos, which got added in a few months later.

If the question was what is the best pool experience in VR, Pool Nation VR (The sports Bar VR) would be my answer. If yourself and your friends have another game we should be looking at, then please do share. Several i've purchased have come up short, even going as far playing on the moon with a golf club:D

Best game I’ve played in VR by far is Subnautica. This was a long time ago with my Rift. Most immersive and addictive. Only VR title I’ve lost track of time with.
Having the headset on matched the underwater face mask. The visuals, sound, and story, plus the whole upgrade and build system.
So gutted they haven’t done VR for the sequel

I loved it in standard 2D so will definitely need to revisit it.

I'm getting lots of performance issues with Subnautica, mainly due to processor spikes happening for various periods for no reason, although overall processor usage is quite low. I've got a 3900x so it should be fast enough. It's not enough to spoil the game but it is annoying and it's inconsistent.

It's a poorly optimised game, I don't even know if that's the right word. But, have you reduced the graphic settings on the monitor to the lowest possible? It doesn't just mirror what's been showing in VR, the stupid game renders everything twice.

Ah, one of those games! I never understood why some games do that. I'll look into that.

Still mainly playing Skyrim VR with mods, and adding a few new mods, including an excellent riverside home. I must say that the Higgs mod with full hand presence has utterly transformed the game. One of the real annoyances with Skyrim previously was trying to precisely place objects in your home, e.g in display cabinets. Now it's as simple as picking something up with your hands and placing it where you want it.

I bought Medal Of Honor in the Steam sale, and I can see why some people give up playing it during the first hour, as it's very disjointed with lots of breaks in the gameplay. The gunplay and graphics are excellent though. At least it has now had most of the more egregious issues patched out, and has smooth turning implemented, along with actual adjustable graphic detail levels. (Amazing!).

Since upgrading my PC a bit and getting Quest 2 I’ve gone back to playing Half Life Alyx and Fallout 4. So thrilling when a massive Deathstalker towers above you and starts lashing out. Using fpsVR utility you can see how badly optimised FO4VR is compared to Alyx.
Also re-installed Skyrim VR last night but need to sort all the mods again.
Another game I really recommend is Edge of Nowhere I played quite a long time ago now. That’s one that kept me really hooked till completed

Just tried propogation. Shouldn't have played it this late, and didn't play for long. Would much prefer to play it 2 player, hate turning around to find a zombie almost on top of me!
