Even though I was a kid my dad was into computers and we also had a pc in everyroom linked by Lan ( 2 other siblings). I remeber pcs being a pain to link in those days with pc network cards going wrong, my dad tried to teach me, i think I was 10... never quite got it Still beat him on Red Alert though!!
1st game i player properly online was Black Hawk down. 'A Tin of' was my fav server. Still havnt had as much fun on a shooter since then. Rose tinted glasses!
Walked miles just to get behind a sniper sat onto of a hill.
Medal of honor allied assault. Prior to that i was a console gamer. Played it on my brothers pc for a while, liked it so much i built my first pc, solely for that game. Think i lost two years of my life playing it.
Delta Force 1, or 2, I'm not sure now. Got my own PC around this time and a mate of mine who played the game got me into it, before that I was playing SP stuff on PC or playing N64!
I only remember playing horribly on my dial-up connection while talking **** to people in the chat . I remember it being a big deal when I got a kill or two. I was about 14 at the time
It's still the only game I play online more than a couple of times a year, still haven't got bored of it and see no reason to even try most new games from a multiplayer perspective
This thread has reminded me to get Quake Live again.
I also played the 7 day free trial of Planetside but couldn't get into it no matter how hard I tried. It looked really good but I guess I'm not an MMO person.
Myth of Soma, on AOL dial-up.
It was Game Networks MMO along side Legend of Mir, I was quite a well known PK'er in those days.
God I hate faction based pvp.
Your name rings a bell...was it the same on Soma? I played from early 2003 to late 2005 but never got past level 50. Soma is still my favourite game of all time and I was even playing on private servers till late 2009. I miss the days of running from reds and getting owned at War of the Worlds by Osiirus and his bow.
