Seen the advert for the Casio Aviation watches at the pictures the other day - hyped at getting a watch with thermometer and compass built-in but darn them g-shocks look awfully large! - any alternatives?

Can't really justify spending more than a couple of hundred tops on a watch - they never seem to last long, and break easily as I tend to abuse them lots! lol

been hovering over the buy button on this one: http://www.watchshop.com/mens-casio...chronograph-watch-ga-1000-1aer-p99957434.html - think theres one very similar for £165 too

I’m looking to buy a nice special occasion watch which I can pass onto my son.
I really like the Omega Seamaster 300 chronometer (41mm) – the simplicity, back face and hand style are really doing it. I’ve seen a 300 with a 007 logo but I think that looks tacky.

I don’t know too much about Omega – Do their watches have the quality internal mechanism to justify the price? (This 300 is £2,770).

The 300 I’m looking at.

Those 41mm Seamasters wear a lot smaller than the size suggests on paper. On the wrist it feels more like a 39mm than a 41, it's pretty slim wearing as well and comfortable. but I thought the blue one looked too bland in person (plain dial colour and no gleam on the bezel) and the black looked much nicer but also most common.

Their movements are in house and very reliable, no different to the reliability of many other auto movements though.

It's the perfect kind of watch to pass on. Dive watches seem to have a timeless design that won't look dated in years to come

Right you lot a bit of advice! Im looking to buy something shiny.

I already have a citizen eco drive as my daily but would like to spend a bit more brass on a dress/special occasion watch.
And a bit of an investment too.

Watch 1:

Watch 2:

Watch 3:

I like the look of the Breitling but wouldn't buy a quartz if I had a choice. I'd go with the Omega.

Strange how 3 of us are looking at the same Omega for the same reasons :)
I'm going to check it out tomorrow, I want the black face model but they only have the blue one in stock so will try it on and order it in.

Pretty excited :)

Take the Tag off the last unless you get a massive discount, the value will plummet as soon as you walk out the door, the other 2 you should be looking for 20% off

The Tag also looks and feels cheap and the bracelet is a pain to adjust. An equivalent Seiko feels considerably more substantial given the massive price difference.

Drop the Tag, they just don't seem to justify the asking price. Possibly personal preference but not keen on them other than the higher priced Monacos'.

Drop the Breitling, too expensive for a quartz watch.

Leaving the Omega if that's what suits. Do you have to buy from Goldsmiths as it limits your options?

Its more about the finance option as well tbh.
I have the money in the bank but I can make it work better for me if its free and just pay monthly payments.
