The 8500 orange Planet Ocean doesn't have a ceramic bezel; but yeah the one from watchfinder is the older 2500 movement version so it's not a good price.
I think I'd be gutted to pay rrp from Christopher Ward before Christmas to see they now have slashed everything.
Very nice watch Adam and whilst the box is huge it will certainly add something when presented to your son 
Also, I would personally give it him when he is 30 instead of 21. I think he will appreciate it more and less chance of losing it when drunk! My dad also loves the moonwatch and really wants one. I am actually thinking about it for his 60th from me (as I will get to keep it later in life hopefully too )

I'm not a watch person at all but now am and wear my SMP daily. As soon as I tried on the moonwatch I though 'oh no, im going to end up buying one of these today'
Why is there a 2k difference between the price of the moonwatch at beaverbrooks to goldsmiths?

What is the tachymeter thing around watches outside for?

They have a sale every week from what I can tell. Bit like dfs sofas lol.
I'd buy a steinhart instead. Cw have lost the plot from their vfm roots.
Judging by the number of Emails I get from them, yeah they do. Cw pricing is ridiculous and seem to add £50 to their prices every six months. Definitely not as good vfm as they were. They were trying to flog a quartz special edition for 2.5k earlier this year. Get real!
