It's rated to 100m and it gets bashed frequently, so yes. I wouldn't go swimming with it though, I wouldn't have anything without a screw down crown to go swimming with.

I like the slightly more 'modern' look, and the fact the whole dial is lumed -- not sure about the titanium tho, apparently titanium scratches very easily -- also the dial is very, very 'flat' looking.

On the other hand If they have upgraded the bracelet, it might be a nice upgrade for my premium Blue.

In any case, no regrets buying the Blue one, it's quite a stonker :)

It looks a like like they took some inspiration from the Obris Morgan Explorer II for the dial and hands actually, no bad thing either. The Ceramic bezel looks to be a huge improvement on Steinhart's previous efforts with the Ocean 1 ceramic.

Incidentally I took delivery of a package from Germany yesterday, it has Laco written on it (OMG not a diver!) :D I will take a picture in the day light tomorrow, I also keep meaning to get one of the Scorpion Fish for the chap who asked about it weeks ago.

I hate natos personally but I'd be surprised if the omega one wasn't a bit better to be honest, it certainly should be

Woven with the pubes of Swiss virgins.

I like watches as much as the next man but it is useful to recognise where brand and BS collide.

If isn't, see Smokedog's post above. You're paying for the Omega logo on the shiny buckle.

i dont see that he said the maratec one is better?

im assuming that the omega one is a quality product, no way a piece of nylon is worth 140, the same way a strip of alligator skin isnt worth 300, or a stainless steel bracelet isnt worth 1500

The populararity of NATO straps must upset a lot of Swiss watch companies that are used to charging £300 for leather straps and four figures for bracelets. Of course the only way they can respond is by selling NATO straps that cost over 10x the cost of every other NATO strap :p

If its anything like the one that come with the SpeedMaster Moon watch its really not worth the money. I found the material very thin, but nice to have one of the buckle engraved with the Omega logo... thats what your paying for.

Pretty much sums it up. Why would the Omega NATO be better quality than the Maratac? It costs more because of the brand. In the same principal I'm sure Rolex/Tudor want ridiculous money for the Black Bay NATO strap on its own too, it doesn't feel better than a Maratac for sure.

Maratac specialise in NATO straps, Omega just bundled one with a watch model - I'd sooner side with Maratac producing the better quality strap based on their expertise than an included strap that costs tens of times more to buy on its own from a big name brand.

The Maratac straps are made to exceed British Military spec used back in the day. I can't think of a higher QC than that.

On the nato subject: I'm not much of a fan. I'm all for wear what you want, but some of the colour choices are amusing, odd colours are often thrown together which does nothing for the watch. Especially amusing is seeing a Rolex on a nato, it blows my mind. I'm not sure why you'd choose to strap a cheap looking piece of material to your £5k 'Rolls Royce' of watches.. but ah well.

A few weeks back I came across this great match on reddit. I'm not a nato guy but I think it works so well, so well that I nearly pulled the trigger on the watch purely after seeing the photo.
