What watch do you wear?

I ordered a C60 600 pro in their half price sale for £300, its turning up today but I ordered it on a bit of a whim, and will probably be returning it...

Girlfriend bought me a watch for Christmas that I hated and have returned it so looking at replacements around the £200 mark (that's including me putting money towards one if necessary but could stretch budget slightly if I really like one). Turned 30 this year so want a watch that reflects that if that's such a thing.

I like this Armani one I've seen.

Any suggestions on brands or watches in my budget I may not have considered or seen yet? I know watches tend to be a personal taste but I quite like faces that have dials on them but would consider ones without. One that tells date and day of week too would be a benefit but not a necessity. I currently have a Casio Edifice but would ideally like something a bit different but I'm finding some of the plain ones a bit boring.

However having said I want something a bit different, I really like the look of that Citizen Calibre 8700 black posted a few posts ago but realistically out of budget as I'm saving up for a deposit for a house. Argh decisions!

That will use a bogbasic quartz movement found in many junker watches, so you're paying entirely for the name. If Armani means that much to you, then great, but it's valueless to me.

As others have suggested, save up, and go for something a little more original. Whilst at that price point all will be generic movements, at least you'll get a watch, rather than a tacky brand buckled to your wrist.

I'd agree with that - generally speaking don't buy watches from brands that also make clothing or bags.

Tissot make good quality watches for a reasonable price, but there are loads of smaller independents

Agreed, my Armani has sat gathering dust now. I don't regret getting it but it's just nowhere near as nice to wear as my Seamaster.

Just thinkin - Fossil may make the Armani watch, so whilst I wouldn't necessarily recommend a Fossil (I know nothing about them, so can't comment), what they have may be nigh-aesthetically identical, bar the Armani brand, and substantially cheaper, as they don't have the cachet that Armani has for some.

I have three Fossil watches and they are all good quality and because they're sold at their true value, they're not a rip off like the fashion brand watches.

Had my Trident a couple of weeks now, it's a fantastic watch, the quality is right up there.

I'll get some proper pictures of it soon, but for now...

Could you wait a little longer and save a further £100?

These are nice watches:

That is rather nice. Not heard of his watches before but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Certainly looks the part and ticks all the boxes, just a lot of money :p

Thanks to all the rest for you replies and suggestions. Taken everything on board and decided against buying a fashion brand watch and will save up to get a proper one. I just might have to sell a kidney to afford some of the watches you lot have!

Ultimate p0rn nerd watch shot; received my 1964 Bulova Accutron Spaceview, it's absolutely stunning.

Is it the 42mm you went for?

Being trying for a few days to add some of the watches in the sales to the cart but not sure if it is a fault but not being able to add it to the basket.

I wanted to treat myself for my 30th and now they have been removed...sent an email to CS and also Chris himself to see if they can do anything for me.

My Mako and Nighthawk are sitting at the post depot. Knew I should have got them delivered to work. Hopefully I'll be able to get them Thursday.

Yeah it is Fossil.

I really want to love the Trident, but I just can't get on with the baton markers :(. That and the silly looking CW logo these days. Loving that Bulova though.

I'm really liking my new watch. It tells me the date again!!

I'm not 100% on the strap, it makes a bit of noise, like the links have a bit to much play in them. Other than that I love it! :D

whilst some of that is true. odds on that Armani will last a good few years without having to change the battery. also most of the public will admire as it is a known brand. simples. at the end of the day, it is a watch.

I'd spend my money on a Seiko or even an Accurist over an Armani watch. You are paying £20 for the watch and £180 for the word "Armani" written on it.
