What watch do you wear?

The lume on the whole is pretty good actually, I don't think I've done any testing on it. Will look in the early hours of the morning and let you know.

How'd you manage that? :(

A heavy ornament fell off the top shelf and landed directly onto my watch which was on my desk. Freak accident. :(

That's after holding an inch beneath a GU10 led spotlight for 30 seconds... So it can get bright but even a few minutes later that is much dimmer :([/quote]

That's normal. Office lighting doesn't charge the lume anywhere near as well as sunlight either.

Only a handful of dive watches have extended periods of lume after the initial few minutes. It's all down to the layering process of the lume by the manufacturer. I know brands like Lum-Tec, Sinn, Rolex and of course Tudor heavily apply lume in layers for long periods of visibility.

Count yourself lucky it's bright enough to still be seen after a few minutes though, if it were a Longines, then it would be invisible by then. Those stingy buggers :p

Having bought lum tec and having done a couple of dials with it, I really don't understand why any expensive dive watch wouldn't have good lume. It's available, it's not hard to do. (not a comment on the Omega's by the way)

Omega certainly advertise their lume as a key feature, and the people in this thread with diver 300s infer that that model has that competence.

BRIGHT LIGHTS

The applied indexes are coated with white Super-LumiNova that emits a blue light, while the minute hand and dot on the diving bezel glow green. This helps divers easily keep track of their time underwater.

Superluminova is just the lume brand/model. They don't say how heavily layered the coats are. It wouldn't stand a chance against a Lum-Tec, for example.

I agree with Skidder here, premium brands like Omega should be using heavy lume applications, if Lum-Tec and the like can do it, there's no excuse really.

Finally got one in Dubai Mall Rolex. It wasn't on display but they got one to the store within the hour.

It was the same price as UK retail as the pound is still weak but still happy with that. Comes with the 5 year warranty.

 as hell!

Both lovely watches, congrats. The GMT is by far my favourite Rolex, I chose the Planet Ocean over the Submariner but I'd love one of these one day.

I just loved the look of it over the Explorer as those were the two in my price bracket.

You're next purchase will be an Omega and yet you don't have any watch already in mind? That's a little unusual, unless you're buying purely for brand name.

I had an Aqua Terra and sold it as I never gelled with it. I fancy a Seamaster, I just really like the look. An upgrade over my Tag for that sort of watch and a nice difference to my Bremont.

I quite fancy the look of the new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Master Chronometer GMT as a dress watch... but the price is pretty ridiculous for what is essentially a black and white facelift, with no metal strap option, so that will cost a fair bit extra.

Well after losing £2k on my AT I am in no rush to buy another watch without research. My Bremont has been sent away again to have a pin repaired so I'm currently wearing my Tag which is normally lucky to see daylight. I'm quite liking it actually.

BTW the image you've quoted is broken for me.

A dress watch ? That????

Yeah it was the James Bond one. After buying it I hardly wore it and never gelled with it. So I got rid as it was just sat there. Stupid mistake to buy it really.

The Seamaster PO's are a little more than just a facelift.... like, a new in-house movement.
Luxury watch designs rarely change much over the years... look at the Rolex Sub; it still looks the same as the one from 1950 :p
