Arrived just before the weekend in time for a trip to Exeter and Dartmoor so I got to play with the Altimeter and Depth Meter (in a swimming pool but was pretty damned accurate between 0.4 and 3.5m).

My Suunto arrives tomorrow. I'll try and get some on-arm pics :)

I have to say I was worried it would be much bigger than this but actually its a nice size, really comfortable and easy to read and use the buttons...and not as orange as it looks in photos either.

Edit: Also forgot to post this pic. Number 6769 of 8848.

Got to say I'm pretty pleased with it. Compass and barometer work nicely, it'll be interesting to see how they get on at slightly higher altitudes etc. I also like the dual time sunrise/sunset feature.

^^ I have one for snowboarding and it works well as long as you calibrate with known info

comfortable too for riding (I have a different strap type but another guy I ride with has that exact one)

I seem to have ended up with a fair collection of watches.

...and quite a few others

Had to get rid of a nice ben sherman one due to a very messed up break up and had her and my initials on the back ¬¬ Now have a sekonda, almost same design as old one just rectangular with metal strap not as fancy as half the ones ive seen here, but it does the job ^^

Just got this last week.

this is how it looks in the dark.

hopefully this will stand up to the punishment my old G-SHOCK Mudman G-9000 did.
Very Happy with it so far, a lot less bulky and a lot more discreet.:)

how safe is Tritium in watches ?

what happens if you broke it in an accident ?

Well I have only come across Tritium in SUSATs and the standard safety procedure when you break one of those is to open all windows and doors and vacate the area.

Edit. Although the SUSAT uses Tritium gas and I think Tritium is only harmful when ingested or inhaled so painted onto a watch should be fine.

New this week, Suunto Core Lava Red. I wanted the Everest one but I can't get on with negative displays.

I couldn't really justify paying about £90 extra for the Everest edition so went with the Core All Black. BTW, now I'm used to the negative display I actually find it easier to read in bright sunlight etc.

Yeah some people like them. I've had an all black Core, a couple of negative display Pro-Treks and a couple of negative display G-Shocks in the past. I always had trouble reading negative displays in pretty much all light levels, though I also have slight problems with my eyes. A nice big positive display (like the Core) is perfect for me. :)
