As far as i was aware, the term "Emo" came about due to a style of music that was classed as Emotional Punk rock.
This in turn spawned the term Emo, which became an almost unofficial music genre from the states. Q the fashion, hairstyle and glasses etc associated with the bands that kicked it all off.
