When are you going fully electric?

This is a problem with VAG style cars at the low end. Compared to a MG4, or a Megane E-Tech you really don’t get a lot for your money.

The MG.4 gives you the same level of very basic kit in SE trim for a lot less money. The Trophy trim MG4 and the Megane E-Tech gives you a lot more for the same money.

Buying an ID.3 or a Born is more about style than value for money because at almost every level the Megane is a better car for the same price and the MG4 is as good or better for less.

For me at least a born is a very hard sell as it is woefully under equipped compared to its rivals.

The Born deal I was looking at was £337 a month with 1k upfront so much cheaper than anything else I could find for 12k miles and 2 years.

The MG4 is £375 but hideous and range isn’t enough :)

Then you should not be so picky. Don’t mean that to sound confrontational but if you get that kind of deal, it’s kinda silly to be turning it down because you think it’s a bit cheap looking.

It’s not cheap looking, it’s cheap feeling.

And my main show stopper is that there’s 0 value in swapping out my 19 plate G20 320d for one when the upfront cost of change is about £3,000 and I save £200 a month at most :/

Can't have Octopus IGo until Nov 1st.
Did they give you a reason for that? Before I got the Leaf I was on the tracker. The day I got the Leaf I switched to Go and it was instant. The day I got my charger installed I switched to Intelligent Go and again it was instant so it seems strange that they are making you wait until November 1st. I would give the a call the day you have the charger installed.

We can't get out of contract with our current supplier unless we pay £150

Some people are so weird when it comes to cars, I could have Chitty Chitty Bang Bang behind me and I wouldn't give a toss :)

"OMG I followed an <insert care here> on the motorway for an hour and it ruined my life" :)

Chitty chitty bang bang is cool though. There's nothing cool about an iX. Straight up irritating and a waste of resources.

Someone was paid to design that, and BMW are happy using resources to mass produce it

It's an insult to engineering and design

unfortunately Meganes seem to be holding 2yr 2nd hand value better than id3 ~ £20K vs £15K - so the market agrees;
the big batteried born/id3 with the newer efficient drivetrain catching up though, pity it's not going de-tuned into smaller battery versions.

Id3 were 34k 2 years ago. How much e tech. Borns seem to hold value a bit better than id3.

What’s this new drivetrain ? It’s hardly been out 2 months so how can they be catching up. There’s probably not one second hand one for sale yet.

ID7 Tourer Arrived on Thursday.
First impressions are great. Averaging 4m/kwh in the rain over the last couple of days, which was a pleasant surprise.
It's very comfy, and the standard suspension feels good. I'm coming from an Arteon elegance and Cupra Born and that's really my only reference. Softer than the Cupra.
I'm not a 'machine is an extension of man' type of chap so my driving thoughts should be taken in that context. It's nice, enough poke and appears to be doing what it's told. I've not crashed into anything yet so that's a good sign.
I like the travel assist, it other than needing to touch the steering wheel it really does just drive itself on A roads and above. Some will hate this, I like the fact it will almost drive me all the way home.
Seats are great (standard) and the massage is surprisingly eager.
The infotaintment is quick and works well. The HUD is great and massive.
Not loving the App, although it's not awful. Syncing the range and charging is a mixed experience, with the range subject to some variability without the car moving.
IDA is an interesting gimmick, although has promise replacing my wife as tour guide.
Foot-boot opening appears to have been deleted from the standard spec in the UK, shame as this was something i did use on the Arteon when my hands were full.
Happy to answer any questions.

bbc r4today interviews with uber ceo cheerleading for cheap chinese ev's againt imposition of eu taxes ..
fine, if you(they) have cheaply leased/maintained byd's for taxi business great for uber - but doesn't help the man on the street with longer term ownership cost of such a vehicle.

And it won't impact you either since the closest you'll get to a BEV is coming to comment in this thread, right? Or, perhaps you'll get a cheaper uber fare and a ride in one of theirs. :D :p
