When are you going fully electric?

sorry if late to the party but I just saw the new 2026 leaf for the 1st time.

must admit I think it looks fantastic.

edit... hmmm I may have gotten excited over nothing as this video below claims to have the new nissan leaf... and compared to the above it looks meh!

am wondering if the top link is a new juke (but then it says leaf on the number plate)... but that would still be fine as long as it's a full EV

worse case scenario it's a concept and not even a proper car.

I know 1 link says 2025 and one 2026 but I can't believe they will change the design. after 1 year

Did someone on here say that they had an I-pace? How are you getting on with it? Still enjoying it? I had a lift the other day in a 24 plate and I very much liked it! So comfortable and silent, it really was very impressive It's made me look at a 21 plate HSE now. Any drawbacks to the 21 HSE? Things I should look out for? Am hoping there will be a drop in price early next year.
there are a few of us who either own or have owned an ipace.
I have had an MY21 model (the 1st with pivi pro upgrade, 11kw AC charging and getting rid of one of the 12v batteries for 18 months.

it had it's 2nd MOT this morning and it passed without any advisories. in my 18 months of ownership it has been (tempting fate) flawless.

it's not perfect, it's not the most efficient EV, it does not charge that fast with DC charging

but it is a joy to drive, it's comfortable on long journeys, feels like a premium car and in good weather can manage 260 motorway miles (200 in winter) and I think it looks great.

Feels like an age since that launched and I haven't seen one in the wild yet.

I don’t think they were originally available in the UK but I guess Toyota more recently changed their mind with the continued popularity of hybrids.

Not sure I’ve seen one yet either, but also not sure I would recognise it amongst the high number of Chinese EVs popping up everywhere I go.

looks a bit slab sided and edge(reborn?) styling for that leaf ... not to mention suv'ish.

How about a mb electric 2025 CLA estate - with gearbox ! it's curvy, not a purely electric platform but no ones perfect

e: so gearbox
doubles the gear ratio also rwd .... hmmh so you need that to be efficient/powerful at both high&low speed.

I believe both of those are AI generated images based on pure speculation. The top one likes like a evolution of the current gen 2 which I have and must be fake as we already know the new Leaf will be a SUV. If you freeze the video at the very begining where the text on screen is jumping around they both state that they use AI generated images and gather their "facts" from various "sources" on the internet. The new Leaf is being launched next year not 2026.

so see, one of the other few estates mg5 is to go maybe a bad omen for a future 3/C/A4 in that denomination, and, despite VW having thought the ID7 would have a market
One of the UK’s few electric estate cars will disappear from sale next year following the decision not to replace the MG 5.

The British brand said it has enough stock to see it into early 2025, but a combination of newer models has deemed the 5 surplus to requirements.

The MG5 started life as an ICE platform so it's days were numbered, its to be replaced with the MG4 version i believe

I have a MY20 I-Pace so a little older. Pre-Facelift, owned for a year. Not a single issue but be warned if you do go into it. Jaguar warranties have increased in cost if you want to put one on. I paid £780 for this year and the renewal is £1500. Unfortunately it’s the only warranty to have. Insurance the same story for me, paid £900 this year, renewal is double (I get circumstances alter this) and the 6 year service is steep in cost if you plan on keeping one that long.

the new audi mma platform (by design) is dual use - backing both horses, help with 2030/35 indecision..
will be interesting if it has a transmission tunnel like the new Jag vision does, but maybe that adds structural rigidity.

e: mma gearbox benefit
Most electric cars below hyper performance machines use an economic single-speed reduction gear. As electric motors can provide full torque - usually around 300-400Nm from 0rpm - the lack of gears doesn’t really affect acceleration. In fact, getting to 100km/h is easy - it’s maintaining that speed that requires a lot of energy from the battery as the motor spins at high rpm. That’s where the new ZF unit comes into play.

Able to change into a second cog at 70km/h, it requires less energy to drive at higher speeds and aids with towing. The unit is an all-in-one part, with a 140kW electric motor, two-speed transmission and electronic componentry all in the one sealed box. While Tesla and BMW have similar units, they are single speed, and ZF will also open its doors to any manufacturer interested. And though multiple-gear electric motors are in production, they are the preserve of supercars.

Transmission tunnel? It’s a floating console look harder.

It will NOT be a north south installed gearbox in an EV either
