When are you going fully electric?

Did my first charge out and about tonight on the Polestar 2

150kw charger, 50-80% in 25 mins and didnt cost anything because the £450 free BP chargemaster credit.
Nice - I've only tried a 150 kWh charger once on a cold December day and pre the recent update so it only averaged about 70 kWh. I will give it another try soon.

On Saturday I maxed out a 50 kWh charger for 36 mins, (42% to 80%). The higher temperatures are really making a difference :)

Does the polestar show you anything regarding the actual charge rate? Big frustration I have on mine only showing %/hour or miles/hour.
No it doesn't. Currently when charging it only shows miles per hour. Someone worked out you can calculate the charging speed by dividing the mi/hr by 2.7, which is the number Polestar is using for Wh/mi.

That’s even worse! I got 113% in mine a couple of weeks ago at a BP 150kW which means the fable >100kW rate but that was only around 30% SoC. I wish the chargers showed something too.

The older IPACE you could log into a web browser third party setup and it would plot the curve on the screen which was cool. PIVI pro on 21MY doesn’t have an internet browser though.

looking at FastNed looks like the Polestar gets a pretty good rate going sub 40%!

Reading around just now - the A Better Route Planner (ABRP) was made available on Android Automotive today and that shows charging rate in kWh :)

Correct. Looks like it will do it at low SoC.

Which is kinda the logic of rapid charging, just drive from full battery as low as you dare and top up to get you to destination or home, charging beyond 80% is just a waste of time and after 60% it can be worthwhile just driving to the next charge.

That doesn't seem right - you would have to get 400 mi/hr to be getting 150Kw charging
Yep.

This is the charge curve for the Polestar 2 after the Feb update.
Looks like the average charge speed using a 150 kWh charger, from 10-80% is about 98 kWh, which is about 37mins

Wait to see the Kia EV6 launch tomorrow , this and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 make the ID4 and other SUV's look bland , Just hope they can get the pricing right

https://www.kia.com/uk/new-cars/watch-this-space/

The rate of progress currently - every new EV launched makes the current models look bland. They will need to get it available quickly, it’s no good doing a paper launch with it not available to order for 6+ months, then another 3 months for delivery.

The ID4 may be bland but it’s available now :)

Hopefully Hyundai and Kia are much further in there build schedule than VW who are having chip shortages now. If the Korean's and China have stock piled there chips they will definitely hit there targets

I can't wait to replace the polestar purely on the basis that the market is incredible
It’s sure going to be an interesting journey.

- Car prices will need to come down, to balance all the other related costs, which will sure go up. I wouldn’t be ordering a P2 now at £680 per month (with the £35k-£50k tax grant being removed).
- Public charging prices will no doubt increase. Shell increased their prices to 41p kWh this week. (from 26p)
- Maybe a rate per mile ‘road tax’
- Increased BIK

Yeah theres going to be some changes, Im glad I did mine on 2yr with opportunity to go monthly rolling

Too expensive, currently a good 10k dearer than petrol cars and you have to pay the additional fee of having a charge point installed at your house. Those who don't have a drive it is bit difficult to plug in over night to charge, don't see people throwing a lead out of their apartment window down to their car. You'd also likely get some idiot trip over it an try sue..
There needs to be way more public charge points and 'electric stations' either instead of or built along side petrol stations. Also needs to charge faster. 30mins to charge on already long commutes...

The Ioniq 5 is available to order now. The EV6 will be available to order today. And it’s partly down to Hyundai and Kia wanting to urinate on VWs chips because they’ve got the goodies ready to go now and VAG are just launching cars that only just compete with the Kona and eNiro in terms of specs.
