When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

Depends on the resolution 3080 on average gets you over 100 FPS at 1440p what does another extra 40+ FPS gonna matter? If it's at 4K I wouldn't want 7900xt or 4070ti id want 4080 or 7900xtx

I'm happy with current performance don't see need to upgrade yet only reason I'd upgrade if pricing was more reasonable I'll see what options are available next gen

Say if you had 10 or 20 series card than it's different story or playing at 4K
Disagree the 4080 and 7900XTX are not a big enough jump (4080 about 10% and the XTX about 15%- both for >£300 more) above a 7900XT to justify their appropriateness for 4K. You will either need a 4090 or next gen to run at that resolution. 10gb vram on a 3080 is concerning even now with the release of Unreal 5 games and their vram requirements. The window to get rid of the 3080 for a decent price has gone and you should just wait for next gen now imo.

I rather have the 4K headroom with xtx or 4080 at the minimum how long are you planning on keeping the card ? I wouldnt wanna be stuck with 7900xt or 4070ti if playing at 4K when its already on the edge ? 16 game 4K average below

my plan was always to keep the 3080 (skip a gen) and at 1440p its given me well worth the ££ close to 3 years now , the choices were always poor if you already have 3080 when you paid msrp, replace it for what ? An over priced 7800xt ?? not worth the performance gains at 1440p imo

True, you can reduce settings/upscale and still get great performance by keeping a hold of your current last gen or older GPU.

But you can't spec a PS5 comparable brand spanking new PC, controller and AAA game for £479 delivered.

That's why the lead AAA platform is and will stay console for a long time coming imo.
You don't need to spec a comparable pc. You can buy a gpu for your old pc. You are welcome

I have a now 13 year old x5690 pc in the office. I'm sure I can put a 6700xt in there and get ps5 comparable performance for cheaper than ps5. So there is that.

Haha. 3080 looks shocking at 72fps- Nvidia were marketing that for 4K as I recall. XT and XTX 19 fps (and 15fps on the 4080vs XT) difference to me is not not worth £300 more lol. Worth putting that £300 towards the 60 series or RX 9000 imo

But I never bought it for 4K and its close to 3 years old ? it was bought for 1440p and still going (I wasnt one of the ones that spent much more for the 3090 LOL) and wouldnt have either when its headroom on release day was on the edge and I think most should know by now not to believe either AMD or nvidia marketing lol

not bothered about 4K when I play in front of monitor and save on needing that extra horsepower to push it and needing to spend more

For those people who really did need to upgrade during late 2020 and 2021, it was a case of suck it up, ok you knew things were insane, but, if you needed a GPU, you needed a GPU, and it was always considered a one off.

The problem is 2 and half years later, we are almost no better off, and for some of those that had to fork out big during that time, their GPU is now getting to the point where you maybe are considering an upgrade, and yet you are being forced to suck it up again.
Instead of retailers and scalpers Nvidia and AMD have become the scalpers by rebadging lower tier cards while also raising prices, some Nvidia cards have more than doubled in price from one gen to the next while AMDs cards are up 50-70% for the higher end stuff on there last gen counterparts.

Imagine how bad the 4070ti and 7900XT will look next gen then, remember the 3080 pulled 25-30% over a previous gen halo card yet these either equal or lose to last gens halo. In mean terms the 3080 is over 10% faster than the 4080 for its generation so I expect this current crop of over priced underperforming cards will not age well next generation.

But then are you prepared to pay over £1K for a decent performance jump next gen?

7900xt will age pretty well due to hefty vram. I think you are needlessly hating on AMD for some reason. Give them credit at least they stuck in enough vram.
