When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

This is a fantasy as they won’t price what is good for gamers at a price most will pay. Now with AI the emphasis has shifted from diy pc market to one which makes them more profits sadly.
Well let’s hope someone builds an ASIC for AI then as I’m sure many are working on these right now then Nvidia and AMD can go back to gamers begging bowl in hand.

Pretty much ^^that^^. If and when new algorithms aren't cropping up as frequently, as in when there's some consolidation of what's 'best' for certain uses, people will switch to using ASICs.

The only reason everyone's using GPUs is because there's a need for general purpose compute due to the speed of iterations, once the workloads become better defined there will be less demand for GPU compute.

Clearly prices are coming down as even newly released cards are seeing almost immediate price cuts as they are not selling.

You’ve bought in at a higher price so clearly that’s why you don’t want to see price cuts.

You would think that "coming down" only means one thing, but I suspect that it's more complicated than that. It probably equates to how much it moves towards people's expectations.

The card I was interested in was the 4080. To me, the card is at least £400 over-priced in the UK, and in many cases a lot more. Yes, there have been reductions, but nothing like enough. "Coming down" for me would be "heading towards £800".

Having said that, I know that's not realistic, so I've abandoned the hobby. I will only buy a new card now when I am forced to.

Back again! I agree with @SpellowHouse I don’t think people are being realistic with prices. They won’t fall to £500 for a 4080/4090 - in fact gpus of this class haven’t been this price for over 6yrs.
The class of gpu a 4080 is with 378mm2 die was being sold for £469 last gen for a 395mm2 die so not sure where you got you’re 6 year time frame.
