VAT.800 dollars is £609 by todays exchange.
Thats for the XTX.
Price in UK £974 going by OCUK cheapest model.
Thats what, 40% more expensive here?
I mean it's still overpriced here but USA prices don't include tax.

Tbh I lost all interest in this gen the moment Jensen unveiled 4080 pricing.I'm just becoming less and less interested if I'm honest.
Are the US prices without VAT ? If so then OCUK price is before that promotion. It may take a while but prices do tend to equalise with a small lag.
The current pricing of all cards is bad, they seem to think the crypto boom is still a thing.Tbh I lost all interest in this gen the moment Jensen unveiled 4080 pricing.

VAT is nowhere near enough to account for the difference. It's not just one SKU, either. For example, you can buy a Powercolor 6700XT Fighter for $299 in the USA. That's about £226. Add 20% VAT and that's £271. The cheapest I've seen it in the UK is £339. That's 25% more expensive after accounting for VAT. I used that example because I was considering buying a 6700XT as an interim card to replace my 1070Ti. I doubt if it's any different for other SKUs.
With USA prices, even USA prices plus VAT, I would buy a new card. Probably a 7900XT or XTX. With UK prices, I probably won't buy anything. I don't fancy paying an extra 40-50% for being in the "wrong" country. I'd accept an extra 20% for tax. But not another 20-30% on top just for being in the UK.
Is importing a graphics card from the USA feasible?

I don't want to bring politics into the thread but we did vote to impose sanctions on ourself a while back. But not another 20-30% on top just for being in the UK.
it is indeed an enormous shame that we foolishly voted to annexe ourselves from the glorious American Union - forever consigning ourselves to unflattering graphics card price comparisons with our fellow americans. #FBPAI don't want to bring politics into the thread but we did vote to impose sanctions on ourself a while back.

I think shipping to the UK is more expensive as not able to ship to EU and then over to us. I believe shipping to the UK is separate to EU and costs more money hence the explanation for our higher prices in gpus and we pay a lot of sales tax.I'm not sure American makes many graphics cards.
As I said before, if you need a card right now, buy the best price/performance. If you can stomach switching over to AMD (for a decent discount- ie £200 off msrp) they give more for less than the Nvidia equivalent tier.
With the roadmap for Ada Plus allegedly delayed to 2025 Q1 it’s a long time to wait for market correction whilst rocking an inadequate gpu
OCUK had the 7900xt mba in April/May and some of June for £728 which is almost £200 off msrp.Which AMD cards can I get for £200 off msrp? Other than previous gen as they should be less imo
Yeah. Very frustrating and unpredictable times! I'm so annoyed I'm still needing to buy now. My GTX 970 is not going to cut it, I've waited until after crypto expecting normal prices and it's just not happening. The second hand market is just as bad and buying used as always made me nervous.
Next gen could still be over 2 years away with no guarantees the situation will be better.
Agree I think people may have waited too long to make their purchase and have missed out on enjoying their product, waiting on endless cycles of speculation about price normalisation which clearly neither manufacturer is willing to allow. Are you not tempted by a £180 AMD 6600 (or £220 6600-xt)? That's quite a big jump over a 970. And its not as if you need more power than this for 1080p. If you are on 2K, well up-scaling upsets some people. I've been pleasantly surprised by how livable even the basic non FRS just standard AMD up-scaling is on my 2nd AMD machine.
Or were you not tempted this time last year when there the 6700s (non-XT) were £300? Or the £330 6700xt cards last month? Or even though some AMD cards have gone up a tad, would you not be tempted again when they start coming with a Starfield key? [of course not of interest to everyone etc, or want the hassle of trying to sell it on MM]
I kinda feel that there have been chances to buy a card now - either AMD, or even Intel - and that this thread is a bit defunct. Or should be renamed to 'when will the Nvidia prices go down'. And you know that the answer to that might be either 'never', or just right before the next gen, right?
Yea, that was sort of my point. Where in the past one shipment of 100k (plucking a number out of the air) graphics cards would be sent to the EU and have one bit of paperwork/work involved that would only add a small extra cost to each card we're now in the situation where 10k or whatever cards are being sent but the costs involved in shipping haven't changed.I think shipping to the UK is more expensive as not able to ship to EU and then over to us. I believe shipping to the UK is separate to EU and costs more money hence the explanation for our higher prices in gpus and we pay a lot of sales tax.
