When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

My current card is a 2060 super, good enough to wait but I know once the new generation cards arrive they will be out of stock and sky high in price.

Go for it you think?

I think so. Although I'd only go for it if there was proof of purchase so I had some comeback if it was doa or something.

I'm assuming it was purchased recently?

Would your plan be to keep it long term or sell on eventually to move to new cards?

As you say getting hold of cards at release is going to be difficult, I know some think they'll be readily available and cheap but even without shortages and scalpers as active as they are, most major hardware releases are always out of stock.

Ok good shout. I'll ask for the proof of purchase as a condition.

Yeah my plan would be to hold on to it for a fair while. Ploughing this much money into something makes me even more inclined to hold onto it too.

Quite so. Even if you head over to the monitor forum, there was a new widescreen perfect in spec for gaming released and you would think it being rather expensive straight forward to get. Then came the order status when in your basket that you could pay today but shipping date was like September and it was like.. don't think so lol. So yeah fresh tech that's high in all the boxes will generally be in demand I agree so expect some effort to snag them!

The bolded bit is reason enough to only go for it if you have a receipt. I know there would be a manufacturer to deal with but that would be a massive pain.

Only other thing to check is the retailer, as one in particular even with proof of purchase would only deal with the original purchaser so a receipt would be bordering on useless.

Sorry if it seems I'm being negative, but it's a large chunk of money you'd be paying and it's better to have some protection.

I know you could buy used and have nothing, but with a used at least you could test it beforehand.

I'm quite negative anyway, and I'm sure the likelihood is that the card will be absolutely fine, but I like to cover as many bases as possible when buying something.

it's why I've sometimes paid more buying from certain retailers because I know any issues are sorted more easily.

No worries mate. You're similar to me in this respect. Always looking at things from other angles.

The card will be bought using PayPal giving me buyer protection. The seller doesn't have a paper invoice but a screen print for the purchase which was made on 17th march 2022. This has the order number and retailer.

It does seem good. I'm protected from PayPal, theres an invoice as such and a decent price.

Exactly.

And I can't see anything changing this year. I don't think we're going to get back to normality until 2023 at the earliest and the pessimist in me doesn't even think the situation will be different then lol

Look at PS5 consoles, there's no sign of stock being so readily available that you can choose which retailer to buy it from, when you want.

Personally, I don't think that will be true this time. Choice will be spread across three manufacturers and unless a new ethereum pops up, demand isn't what it was. Availability right now is the best it has been in months/years.

I think that's only because a lot of people are hesitant to purchase this late into the cycle, and obviously the uncertainty with mining has impacted sales too.

Time will tell, but I'll be shocked if 40 series cards are sat on shelves waiting for people to buy them on release.

Even before the pandemic new hardware launches generally sold out at launch. Numbers are generally quite small initially too which doesn't help.

I also think Intel's cards will be a flop and not many will even consider them for gaming as Nvidia and AMD will have far stronger options.

Despite my negativity I hope I'm wrong, I'd love for you and others to be right. That will mean I'll be able to buy the card I want (rather than what's available) and not pay over the odds.

If we get an increase of ~30% at all the old MSRP price points, I will be fine with it.

Then, if they have something that is 60%+ stronger than last gen's flagship(s) and create a new, even higher, price point I won't complain. I just want latest gen money to perform better than last gen money. It needs to compare MSRP to MSRP though. The $700 3080 merely got us back on track after Turing had stagnated performance/money progress.

I doubt there be a big increase in MSRP, there's a recession on the. Horizon and smaller market due to Russia, not forgetting a cost of living issue atm

There's another thing to take into account with the next gen, and that's that supposedly manufacturing has been increased to higher levels than it's ever been if AMD's and nvidia's words are to be trusted. What this actually means if true is still guess work currently.

I'm not sure demand will be sky high. It does seem the majority paid over the odds to get a card so won't be in any rush to do the same again, especially if resale demand has dropped.

I'm not hedging my bets either way.

As more and more stock coming in to inventories I don't think 3000 series will go back up to their worse state when 4000's arrive. Many sources suggest more price cuts coming in few weeks. From now I'd hold for 4000 series GPU anyway.

Supply of PCs is supposed to be better now than before covid hit, PC, Consumer Electronics Inventories Climb Above Pre-Pandemic Levels | Tom's Hardware (tomshardware.com).
I think that AMD and Nvidia were more interested in filling bulk orders from the likes of Dell, HP, Acer etc before the home PC builder. Now that the big manufacturers and builders of PCs have plenty of inventory AMD is releasing parts like the Ryzen 5600 & 5700x to take our money as home builders. There are also way more Nvidia 1650 in channel, when I hardly saw one for months at the peak of the mining boom. I suspect because the 1650 goes into many PCs from the likes of HP.

Whatever the state of inventory in channel when the 4000/7000 series launch it will be the usual launch that doesn't meet demand for weeks/months, with high prices and low stock. Hopefully though prices and stock will both improve quicker with less demand from miners than the 3000/6000 series.

I've just pulled a blinding deal with AMD and Sapphire, we are now the only reseller to be at or below MSRP on 6900 XT, from £999 on Sapphire and I am also pulling in the absolutely stunning Toxic Air-Cooled versions at just £1049, or £1099 for H20 cooled.

The support is limited numbers though, but if they sell out keep buying as I've another batch en-route. :)

@Gibbo I see you have the lowest prices on a lot of the Inno3d 30xx generation of cards, but they are all Pre-order.
Any idea when they are likely to land and which ones will land first? (days / weeks or months)

e.g. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/inno...ddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-086-in.html

Thanks!

All the Inno3D has left Hong Kong and should be landing with ourselves late next week.
OcUK should be about the cheapest on every single GPU, we've been pushing hard since February to bring prices down and leading the way. Most competitors are still charging some pretty outrageous prices if you go and compare.
