When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

if you got a grand, unless your desperate i would wait, if you are desperate just get a 2nd hand one to tie you over, bargains galore around, do your homework first, check buyers feedback if ebay to see if they have been mining, if you dont want one of those, generally will either have multiple cards listed or feedback reveals if been selling them often.

Prices are rock bottom (msrp now) Overclockers have a wide range at msrp or close to. If you need a gpu then you can get one.
prices are nowhere near rock bottom, where they are is pushing on the boundaries of what retailers and 2nd hand sellers want to sell them for.

There has been some shift back to normality and stock is there, but to say prices are rock bottom makes you appear like a market trader keen to offload ur goods.

Been given £1000 bonus by my employer so got cash to splash but now choosing what & when to buy seems more difficult as when prices too high it was easier to decide not to. Tempted by new Asus - AMD Radeon RX 6900 xt on FB for £780 as guy has 8 for sale all new in wrapping! I know many will say wait 4000 series etc but I am happy being one gen behind if can save enough cash.
that's not too bad, and tbh even if Navi 33 comes in with similar raster performance it still going to cost £550 ish in Nov/December.

you will gain on VRAM most likely but lose on Ray Tracing, so if RT isn't that important to you its definitely an option. Just make sure Asus will honour the warranty.

I offloaded my mining gpus in Feb to a high street retailer. I can tell you that indeed prices won’t drop below msrp. So yes they are rock bottom and mining market isn’t there anymore hence most miners have sold off already.

they arent good thats for sure, loads are still way overpriced, dont forget we talking about 2yr old gpu's here, theres no value in the new gpu market.

And again mining was never the problem you think it is ; that has been proven recently with the hash migration on you tube with the biggest mining tubers (and followers) moving hash power off ETH and onto other coins - RVN/ERGO/FLUX all showed big hash power gains, but ETH was hardly dented. Why? because of ASICS.

OcUK has new 6900 XT from £899

The prices are all over the place. Relatively it's a good price but £899 for something with a very short life span still seems a lot to me, perhaps just need more disposable income
Why do you think it has a "very short life span" ? ...very short life at the top of the tree maybe, but it will not get worse when new cards are released, it's just it's relative performance in the stack goes down is all, it will still be a heck of a fast card for years to come yet. It's a funny one with computer hardware in particular though and how people perceive it. I'm a hardware hobbyist really, I like to have the hardware just to have it for it's own sake but even I will say I think what we really need is better games more than hardware at the moment, I don't mean harder to run and better looking games, just better games but that's a whole other discussion for another thread.

Agreed on the games. The GPUs will soon be replaced, that level of performance will probably half the price. Your new card will be worth much less than the new one come upgrade time. I'd spend that £899 on 7XXX card in a few months time.

Yeah I don't buy the argument that these cards will soon be obsolete. I bought my 1080 on release (or very shortly after release) which is 6 years ago now and it's still going strong. It drives my QHD UW @120fps on Medium to High settings in my racing games without issue which is more than enough for me.
My reason for wanting the upgrade was for VR which is still a very niche use case - I may even return to to my UW after a few weeks if the VR doesn't stack up. That said, my 1080 can still run my games in VR but there is definitely scope for a little more headroom which I hope my incoming 3070 will give me.

obsolete is perhaps wrong choice of words, but gains look to be decent next gen, so maybe not such a great buy atm, but tis a decent price now, but all will depend on prices for next gen and more importantly availablity

Yes obsolete has other connotations. I was thinking more about as a choice to buy, better ways to spend your money for the same performance.

No-one shoud be buying now unless they have no card it makes no sense, so price are coming closer to 2 year old MRSP?

Big whoop!

I can't believe people think they're getting good deals...

Example: You can only now buy a crappy 2 fan 3060ti for the same £480 I paid for quality 3 fan version 18 months ago...

That's what I bought for £480 18 months ago.

People are having their pants pulled down even now for 2 year old tech!

My only regret is not cashing in on my 1080 back around the start of the year when I could have got twice what it's worth now :p

Yep did that with my 5700XT, the downside is you don't have a decent card to use. I have lots of other stuff to do so no real problem for me but for a really keen gamer it might have been a bit painful!

i cashed in my vega 64 and got stuck on internal graphics for a couple of months while i got a 1060 for 100 quid, then got the 1070 for 100 quid now just got the 2070s for 220 from MM so i did ok bar 2 months couldnt game but had the series s to play with lol
