Always used BitTornado - pretty good imo. Will try out uTorrent anyway - it might be less than the 100MB Tornado uses on a large Distro torrent.

azereus is crap now in comparison to other programs, and it uses java too /spit on floor

utorrent is by far the best

utorrent puts a lot of strain on my router and my whole network slows down, and internet browsing becomes really slow, even if download speeds aren't that high.
I've tinkered with settings but still, slow.

with Azureus the strain is on the computer. takes up huge amount of resources, but everyone else on the network is happier, and interent browsing is faster.

so basically we need someone to make a program thats a compromise between the 2.

I don't use a router (cable modem) and use comodo firewall.
When I'm configuring Utorrent (speed settings) and check the port forwarding, it tells me that the port it wants to use is not open.
I opened the port in Comodo but it's still not happy.
Any ideas?

Have you made sure Windows Firewall is disabled, and if so have you tried completely disabling Comodo and trying it with just Windows Firewall?

Try setting the upload to 10-15kB/s if you haven't already...I found that to be the best setting for me on uTorrent and Azureus, I never noticed a difference between them when it came to router/network load.

It is Comodo causing it - I have the windows firewall service disabled.
I've opened the port but not sure what else I need to do.
Which protocol do I need to open the port for?
