Which console?

i don't want to end up buying a 360 and then regret it a couple of months later because the ps3 has released some amazing features/exclusive games. i hope you understand what i mean. i would love both consoles but 1 is enough!

just to make things interesting, i'm a massive fan of final fantasy, GTA, PES, gran turismo, and resident evil :)

so yeah, which one would you recommend for me?

your post really answers your question for you, PS3
blu-ray. check
LBP. check
your favorite games. check

i think your biggest problem will always be that you'll miss something on either console

Spot on, Which ever console you get, You will indeed wish you had the other console at some point.

Yep true, only way is to get them both , or all 3, but get the one that has the games you would miss not playing the most on. I Thought about getting a 360 with the price drop, but in the end it wouldnt be used much and only Fable 2 interest me at present, much like people who only have a 360 there may only be 1 or 2 games they want on the PS3 but 5+ on the 360, so getting a PS3 isnt worth it.

nothing on the ps3 is appealing, other than if your an MGS fan, 90 percent of the ps3's catalouge are available on 360 or pc anyway.

I think owning a 360 for now is the best choice but i think we will see bluray having the edge in the coming years

Well IMO it's the other way around. There's loads of games coming out for PS3 which I'm really looking forward to, but nothing on 360 (excluding multi platform).

rather than starting a new thread im gonna ask the same question here!

im in the market for a 360 or ps3. i just don't know which to buy. two weeks ago i had my mind set on the ps3, but this week im leaning towards a 360 mainly because of its price (60gb premium over £100 cheaper than ps3) and XBL. the thing that makes me want the ps3 is that it has blueray and some nice games coming out (LittleBigPlanet).

I'm going to recommend a 360.

Final Fantasy ~ If you're into rpgs FFXIII is coming to both platforms day 1 and the 360 has a lot of jrpg exclusives you might not know about. Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon were made by the Final Fantasy series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi. Then there's Infinite Undiscovery by Square Enix, Tales of Vesperia and coming next year Star Ocean 4. All 360 exclusive. The Last Remnant, another SE rpg is coming later this year; it's now a timed 360 exclusive with no firm PS3 date. I'm a rpg nut and with Fable 2 and Fallout 3 exclusive DLC owning a 360 at the moment is the only thing to do.

GTA ~ MS have got exclusive dibs on the GTA IV expansion dlc; it's costing them $50m and should be good. The 360 also has Crackdown, Bully: SE, Dead Rising and Saints Row exclusively and all are great open world games.

Gran Turismo ~ Prologue whilst being good is only a demo (albeit a lengthy one) and the latest word from Polyphony is the full GT won't see a release until 2010 at the earliest. Forza 2 on the 360 is probably still the defining HD non arcade racer. Sinbin's Racer pro is coming 360 exclusive later this year and Turn 10, the guys behind Forza 2 are rumoured to be making an announcement on their latest game next week. Personally I'm a PGR man and PGR4 was completely overlooked and is one of the best looking and playing games of the generation and 360 exclusive.

PES/RE 5 ~ coming to both platforms.

I'm not saying the PS3 doesn't have or won't have great games it's just still lagging behind despite promises 2008 would be it's year. If you really want blu ray and think you'll still be happy with a PS3 then go for it; it's still a great console with a lot of good games; I just find it hard to recommend one over a 360.

My 2p.

I wouldn't put down Gran Turismo as a plus point for the PS3 to be honest.

A) Prologue was crap
B) GT5 won't be out for at least another year

Anyway. I'd be inclined to get the 360 purely because of Fable 2, if it wasn't for that I'd get a PS3.

thanks for the replies people!

this hasn't made my decision any easier, though :D

blueray isn't a necessity, its something that the ps3 has over the 360's hd-dvd doesn't it? i just want the one that will last in the long term :)

cheers

Well Sony are well known for supporting their consoles long term - longer than any previous console manufacturer iirc, so you may want to get a PS3.

What am I looking at? It's pretty much dead when it comes to good games TBH.

God of War 2 being the exception.

We are looking at the fact that you can still buy a PS2 brand new and that there are still new games coming out for it eight years after launch!

5ingh said he wanted a console which will last for the long term, so looking at all the current gen of consoles I would say the PS3 (judging from company history) will support theirs longer than the competition.

lack of memory is the main reason and slow sales and lack of games
or the guy wanting a console can hold on 10 years and see if ps3 is still around? rather than get a 360 now and enjoy the best console on the market
in 10 years time who will be wanting to play ps3? blu ray is not an issue so on that basis the 360 is clearly the better option
cheaper has more aaa games better online capabilities and no sign of support dying out anytime soon
why do you think 360 will not be supported long term then?
if going by past company actions then microsoft support their products a long long time the xbox was dropped due to the costs involved nothing more just like sony will drop ps2 once its not turning them a profit just like sony dropped that psx machine in japan where is the support for that eh

The PS3 has an equal amount of memory to the 360. The rest of your arguments are subjective. Sales are picking up and there are plenty of games out for the system. Not as much as the 360 obviously, but more than enough that anybody buying the system would be very happy with it. 'What if what if' and 'when in the future' aren't very good arguments.

Well none of what you have mentioned stopped the PS2 being the biggest selling console ever and you could have said exactly the same about that at this stage in it's lifecycle.
