Which is worth it more?

I was just wondering. Average to me would be 0-60 in about 3s like my motorbike lol. I know very little about cars like this and was just wondering.

Noted though. The covette 'looks' like a nice car whereas the Monaro looks like a big saloon car and the Corvette justifies its extra price tag by being quicker overall. It is mainly the looks though. :)

I don't buy this "Completely different car" thing, it is not like we are comparing chalk with cheese here. Both are 2 door coupes tailored towards being "GT" cars rather than out and out sports cars.

Even a Bugatti Veyron wont do 0-60 in 3.0 seconds

Yet you think thats average car performance?!

dunno, not fussed in trying tbh. :) cars in my eyes will never beat a bike for performance to the pound. only true supercars would come close.

2009 BMWS1000RR is a good example of what bikes can do and it's less than a mondeo. :)

Kinda what i was thinking initially. i can see the arguament now though. the Corvette is more a supercar whereas the Monaro is more the car next doors got.

I dunno......... lol

I'm willing to bet very few people can/have the balls to launch a bike of that power well enough to do it in 3s though :P
Only in the same as most car drivers couldn't launch a car to 60 in it's book time really. There's less to mess up on a bike and probably the main reason that they do 0-60 so quickly is because is an absolute maximum of 1 gear change on a sequential box.
When I was first looking at cars properly I already had my VFR800 which is quite a lardy 90s sports tourer and that has a book time of 3.2s 0-60 :o

In which case surely a Vauxhall Monaro and an Aston Martin Vantage are the same thing?

I'm not even going to argue against that point and I'm sure we both know that is completely ridiculous...

At the end of the day, the difference between the two cars isn't anything like comparing an Aero 8 to a 7 series. A far better compassion would be to compare a RR Silver Seraph to a 750IL in the sense that they share the same engines, and both fall into the same category.

Why?

Both are V8 performance Coupes with an engine in the front, rear drive, and a similar breif.

In what way is it any more ridiculous than the claim that a Monaro and a Corvette are basically the same?

Is someone starting to compare bikes to cars on 0-60 times?

Excuse me while I choke on my tea.

What? Less to mess up?

**** up the launch on a car, you spin the wheels, slip the clutch or bog the car down.

**** up on a bike and you come straight off the back?

Also, I've never had a remotely quick car that hasn't been able to do 60 in second gear.

Almost all superbikes will hit 65-80mph in first gear. ;)

Although nailing it in first without snicking up into second at some point will have your front end a foot or two in the air.

Launching one off the line and getting it right in order to achieve a good 0-60 time isn't particularly difficult for even a moderately experienced rider.

Anyway, I thought we were talking about Corvettes and Monaros?. :p

lets be honest

the only difference is that Corvette is lighter and more focused.

Unless you have a Zo6 or ZR1 its not got fancy supercar suspension. That and the ammount of toys on offer like a heads up display because its a much more upmarket car.

to my mind its like comparing the VXR8 and the M5, almost exactly the same. M5 is the very technologically advanced more expensive car. Does very similar things to the VXR8, but ultimately approach the "fast big saloon" ethos very differently.

The corvette has a similar pedigree to the M5 - not for uber reliable german build quality, but for being a very light, very focused supercar contender.

Again, the M5 is much more epensive, same as the corvette.

Seriously, what?

I guess your Volvo and a Subaru Impreza are almost exactly the same as well?

What is going on in this thread? Are we basically saying that all cars with the same drivetrain properties are the same? Really?!

Why buy a Skoda Octavia when a Vauxhall Insignia is the same! Apparently.

they are the same in brief

They have 4 doors and go Fast.

they just go about it very different ways. thats the point im making.

Thing is Octavia VRS is almost the same as the Insigna VXR because again, they have the same brief. Again, they just go about it different ways. One is just a large golf, the other is trying to be an audi S4 beater with turbo V6 and 4WD.

An M5 is knocking on the door of 1800kgs this is not a very light supercar at all ever.

To me the cars in the OP are chalk and cheese, one is a budget performance car, and one is an bespoke performance car with history and image. Price will reflect this.

What exactly are you trying to say though? No matter how many parts two cars may share, they are always completely different? That is something you seem to think everytime we get into the Phaeton/Spur 'disagreement' :).
