How do you think the more powerful PS4 will benifit?

Will we see cross platform games looking better or will developers simply port them across with next to no differences.

Will it take a couple of years for developers to start using the PS4 additional power giving a clear graphical difference in games later on in the consoles life?

Will it just be exclusives that will look better on the PS4.

Will none of the extra power make any graphical difference at all?

It really only makes sense to choose the console with the games and features you want. The extra power on the PS4 will no-doubt be useful for developers but if you're not playing the games you want to play, what use is it?

I believe the extra power of the PS4 will be most noticeable in console exclusive games, where the devs only have to worry about the ability of one console. How much of a difference it will make it still up for debate, and I don't think we'll know for sure until several months, if not a year+ into the life of both consoles.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what naughty dog can do with the extra power. The last of us looked simply amazing to say it was on a 7 year old console.

In my current situation no exclusives coming to Next Gen have bothered me on either side. I've had a 360 for 6 years and not really missed any PS3 exclusive except "The Last of Us" which just recently came out. So again this shows in terms of exclusives for me im not missing anything with either console. I do feel in time the PS4 exclusives will better the Xbox Ones though. So my decision is basically based on bang for buck, PS4 being cheaper and more powerful almost seals it, my Astros being compatible also saves me money not needing an adapter and especially now the PS4 has included the much needed party chat and other features i loved on my 360. Microsofts approach this time round hasn't sat well with me, everything seems to involve more money (and yes i know its a business but as a consumer there is a boundary of taking the ****) i also dont like the direction there taking the console with the whole entertainment system idea and forcing people to pay for kinnect which the majority wont want.

Either way both consoles probably wont have much difference at all, the cost of it all, release dates and maybe exclusives will sway a person one way or the other.

How you pull that one off? im in Rotherham too :p

Just had various discounts codes mate, and was from a common online retailer. I'm glad I've gone for both, I know it's damn we'll expensive but Id like to play games from both consoles. I'll use the ps4 as the main / cross platform game machine, and just the Xbox one for their exclusives, I can't be missing out on DR3 and KI.

Nice to see someone else from the **** hole Roth. :D

Fully star all swearing please - Davey

So it comes down to this, do I want a more powerful console with one game, or do I want the less powerful console with several games.

I'm in a similar boat. The PS4 looks like a better bet, but there's nothing I want at launch. The only launch game I want on the XB1 is DR3 - which I suspect will arrive and be better on the PC. So neither look stellar tbh. If really pushed I'd still go for the PS4 as it will likely have better exclusives, at least for my tastes, and is more powerful - something that's bound to make a difference for certain games (a capped 30fps vs. a capped 60fps perhaps?)

So, to sum up, the best console games coming out this year are on the WiiU :D :p

If it does arrive on PC, I don't think it will be for quite some time. It would hurt Xbox One sales if one of the biggest console exclusives came out on PC in a few months. Expect to wait at least a year IMO, if ever.

Agreed. But if that's the only reason for some to choose an XB1 over a PS4, they might want to reconsider if they have a decent gaming rig.

I still don't understand how the PS4 has such a big lead, nearly everyone I've asked whether at work, friends etc etc have said they're going with the XB1, might be a northern thing lol.

Actually just noticed in the XB1 thread a few saying they're cancelling their PS4 orders and going for the XB1 now.

I think the changes MS have continued to make to the XB1 has swung a few people back, as well as footage from Dead Rising 3 looking awesome. I won't re-do the poll for a third time, but I think it would be a closer thing if we were to do it again now. If MS manage to pull a price drop out of their hats (unlikely I know), I think there will be virtually no gap between the two consoles.

Yeah the poll is a bit misleading as it was filled pretty quickly with people still raging over Microsofts decisions. And despite the u-turn most were sticking to their earlier decisions. It has swung a bit but I think now that most people have calmed down a bit the XB1 is looking more desirable to some (mainly for the launch titles and exclusives) and has gained some ground back from where it was.

New poll Davey? :p

Edit: ninja'd!

I read something yesterday (can't remember where) that MS were indeed looking into ways of dropping the price of the console. I'm still thinking that selling price isn't final yet.

If MS come up with any more major news that seems to swing opinion again (like a price drop, or a Kinect-less bundle), I'll do the poll again, but I think we can just stick with this one for now :)
