Really? Can you do it with ebooks from Amazon? albums bought on itunes? movies bought on itunes? games bought on Steam?

I've never bought anything on itunes or downloaded anything from steam.
However, all my DVD's,CD's(which are OLD now),current gen games,my TV,car, bed, toothbrush, underwear etc etc I can sell wherever I want and with whoever I choose. Any physical item I own I can sell freely.

That's all digital content... surely he's referring to physical media.

Well Xbox One games are digital, the game is little more than a license key in a box. It's no different to PC games with Steamworks. You can't sell them on either. At least MS are trying to find a way to allow second hand sales, something none of the other big names in Digital sales really have.

Honestly you can disagree with MS (I do on a lot of things) but there's no point whining about what you can and can't do. Just button up and buy a PS4 if you want it.

Then don't buy an Xbox One. Simple.

If you don't want to move to digital then don't, but let's not act like MS is doing something that isn't being done in every other form of entertainment.

It's a physical item... it's massively different.

What's more all of those services (not sure on itunes never used it) pass on benefits to make it worth the consumers time. Mainly in savings.

Do you trust a company that charges $50,000 to release a patch to fix or improve the games on it's system with passing on savings to you the consumer?

I know I don't.

No it's completely different. The only choice publishers have is if they want their game to be available to trade in at the stores that Microsoft select, not just to do anything you want with.
I'd suggest the opposite view, all a publisher has to do is decide if they want to block second hand sales, otherwise it carries on as normal (just as they could do now).

If CEX, Game etc are Xbox second hand game partners in the UK I don't really see the problem (and I've not seen anything to suggest they won't be).

MS have also said you can give a game away to a friend so (and I'm guessing) you would seem to be able to do private/ebay sales as well. Who's to know if you give it away or get given £10 for it.

You can only give away a game to a friend once per game purchase. They also have to have been on your friends list for atleast 30days. There will never be ebay or private sales on the Xbox One.

There's a huge difference between Sony's position and Microsoft's and I'm astounded some can't see it...

Providing they are in your 'Family/Friends' list for 30 days ... that's not a pain in the rear at all.

They do?

Amazon ebooks are often more expensive than books
Steam games are often more expensive than retail

And why is it different if it's physical? You're happy losing the right to sell if it's digital? If you buy a CD, rip it, you're then not allowed to sell it on...are you unhappy about that? Same situation really.

I should say given I could sell my games at Game the same as I can now, and this system appears to let me share my game library with 10 mates digitally without having to send them a disc and then try to get it back if I want to play I'm happy enough.

Yes I was referring to physical copies. To be honest the ECJ(european court of judgement) probably won't allow them to limit used games.

That's exactly what i'm doing :D

Mind just giving further details how I could sell on, on ebay or privately? Surely giving something away but then recieving a fee circumvents MS T&Cs?

Also how do you check that something that is being sold via that method can still be redeemed? So for example youre gifted a game by a friend then you decide to sell it as you just described, how do I as a potential customer check that its still redeemable, because in that scenerio it wont be...

No idea, if I can give a game away to a friend how would anyone know if he gave me £10 for it. *shrug*

So sell it to Game, CEX, whoever.. /shrug

Call me pessimistic, but i'd guess these 'authorized re sellers' will no doubt bend you right over, more so than they do already for selling second hand games because they know they've got you by the balls.

That can't be good for anyone (other than CEX, Game etc, they're probably loving it)

If I was a victim of the scenario I mentioned then as each game copy is unique it wouldnt be hard for them to find out who the last legal owner of the game was. What they do with that I guess will be covered by their T&Cs.

Well thats what free market economics would dictate I guess...

Yes they do.

For example look down the best sellers list. Nine out of ten of the 10 top sellers have significant savings for the kindle edition. What's more I would hazard a guess that somewhere around 90% of all the books have similar savings for kindle editions. That is certainly my experience.

Steam do it through their amazing sales. Surely your not trying to deny they exist too?

If I buy a CD I can sell it wherever the hell I like. Knowing there is a market for my CD which is priced according to supply and demand. No such market exists for the Xbox, just a monopoly of lucky sellers who can charge what they see fit.

Ebooks it's a lottery, some are cheaper, some are more expensive.

Steam, yes their sales are amazing, what about all the other times? If you want to buy a title at launch (as I imagine a lot do with games) it's nearly always more expensive on Steam.

Cd's no you can't. If you rip a CD it is then illegal to sell it on. This is the closest parallel there is to Xbox One games. You buy them, rip (add them) to your account. If you were then allowed to sell the game to anyone, how would they stop mass piracy? This is why people like Steam have had no option to sell on games for years, it's a problem with no easy solution.
