WHICH Z370 MOTHERBOARD ARE YOU CHOOSING AND WHY?

Went with a I5 8600k and a Auros Ultra Gaming, Overclocks to 4.7 out of the box and I have managed to get it to 4.9 stable, any higher it starts to have issues. Nice board has everything I want and no drama.

Asrock Taichi or Fatality K6, K6 because it's cheap but has loads of options including LED readout and easy Clear CMOS, Taichi because it's only another £30 and a top end motherboard.

Ordered the Z370 Apex this eve! Hope it lives up to the hype;)

Been messing with mine and memory up to 4400mhz but seems like the better results come from tighter timings on the sweet spot (for mine) of 4,133mhz. Running the CPU 5.1ghz 24/7 or 5.3 if benching or feeling greedy.

Having trouble installing Aura to get rid of the LEDs but potentially because i've not yet fresh installed windows from my 1800x on the X370 Hero... At least the LEDs on this one DO turn off when you shut down - providing you turn the soft state effects to off in the BIOS.

If it helps ASrock seems to be the best when overclocking RAM with decent VRM support on even the cheapest boards providing it has decent airflow.

Seen that on another post, ta.

The only difference I can see between both Asrocks I am looking at are:
dual NIC
BIOS code display thing.

Is that worth the twenty odd quid diff for essentially the same board?

For me that is worth the difference yes, at the end of the day dropping £380 on a CPU and skimping the extra £20 on the board seems odd.

I've gone for the Maximus Hero X and a ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming ITX.
I ordered a Gaming 7 from a competitor originally but the bundled things didn't turn up, but deep down I wish I'd ordered the Hero X as my last board was the Hero VII and loved it. So sent it back and got the Hero X
I also briefly had the Strix-I, but the VRM set up is a little bit weak for OC, the ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming ITX is a cracking little board.

The Hero X is sitting proud with a nice pack of Team Group 8 Pack DDR4 3200 32GB ram and a 8700K

not really why have features you won't use? When does the cycle of just spend an extra x amount stop?
When I won't make use of those features, I will make use of being able to clear CMOS and having the readout so it makes sense to spend the extra £20, the cycle ends when I either don't have the money or not willing to spend it or if I will never use that feature.

I never buy cheap MB's I will be getting a Gaming 7 and i7 - 8700K, in fact I have only ever bought one MB that was not Gigiabyte and that was an 'Intel' pentium 2 board many many years ago, the first Gigabyte board i bought was for a 486 cpu.
