White man doing a Black thing?

well, that was fantastic
let's have a big round of applause
ladies and gentlemen, we have a fabulous show ahead for you
our next act is a young man who needs no introduction...

hello hello
welcome to the wonderful world of me
mr. ballbeam
earl blaize on the boogie
and it goes like this

I stand alone like a leper
in the splended grandeur of my solitude
a rude mannerism
to include on those held back by inhibitions
if the myth that keeps you warm
fails to feel secure by superstition
everything else steering charted to the unknown
sweet reciept of a conic glass
bubbles like bass, where intricate broadcasts
experiments like lab rats
pack heat like a thermos, intrinsic
act on instinct and ballots extinguished
stink like N'Sync, I exist as contradiction
taking your silence as conformation

silver heat

MC for modern classic, conceptual
from you empty gestures, cosmetic
many weathers apart
when your a pitter it patters like wallpaper
floppy ****, vagrants, a vapor, vanquished
empty parking lot vacant and vanished
just as lightbulbs make love and burn themselves out
obviously you're not stingy with stupidity
conceited, and your album's only one song strong
chew your arm off and and raise your hand
appreciation is just as impractical
as masculinity for drag queens
in the game of role reversal
priest's conducting the hell's angels at a choir rehersal
rejoice, rejoice, rejoice
and celebrate every day as new year's
is lookin in the mirror to watch my balls drop

four, three, two, one

silver heat

GENIUS.

So you really think a white guy in council estate will grow up to be just like his asian mates? Come on. He's not even going to talk with pakistani accent let alone mannerisms or mindset. Ken Livinstone was born and bred in Brixton and he grew up to be hard core communist with Holloway cabbie accent rather than shady beemer driving pimp in boa scarf and pink fur. You have to want to be whigger to be a whigger. And you have to want it hard.

I saw a documentary the other night about the amount of hardcore left wingers squatting in Brixton in the late Sixties, early Seventies. All of them middle class and post university (mostly oxbridge).

I actually asked if there is any black man doing rock and do they get slagged off for doing a white thing?

Howard in killswitch is black.
Most of god forbid is black.
The sevendust singer is black.

I'll read the rest of the thread now. Hope no one mentioned this before:P

I've never heard of them getting slagged off.

On the KSE DVD the GF guitarist says 'we took over baseball, football, basketball and now we're taking over music' or someting. Made me smile :p

White people don't really have a music unless you count folk, county & western, cajun etc.
If you're talking about modern white music then we have to thank our black forefathers for that.
There are many blacks in what is deemed a white music world and nobody bats an eyelid.
I must admit that there isn't many blacks who do crossover to rock but those that do are taken in with open arms.
We even allow Prince in now and then.

You're right, Vanilla Ice was actually very good, it's a shame that so many people mock him.

Yeap. Check out some of his live stage performances on You-tube....I just cant stand it when people put him down. :(

Well, what's not to put down, during his short but flashy career the guy was sued contless timess for stealing people's ideas by just about anyone from his frat room buddies to Queen and David Bowie. He then tried to come back as jamaican drug lord gangsta with dreadlocks and when it failed to gain media attention he pretended suicide twice calling media on both occassions. His "artistic" individuality aside, how long do you think record label could sell someone like that before people started throwing potatoes at him:

The answer is - very long - Vanilla Ice still makes records. Just that they don't show him to anymore, even tho he now pretends to be scooby surfer boy:

Talking about clowns - does anyone remember time when Mark Whalberg was known as Marky Mark and was running around tompless in low waist pants?

This is the way i see it, He's talented and creative. Despite all the sticks thrown at him, he's still doing well...he hasnt gone away completely iirc he still goes on tour and support major acts (underground) through out the US.
I dont think it is fair the way he's been treated by the media etc. People have problems in their lives but jeez lets not make it the end of them. Look at MJ he's got worse personal problems than Ice yet he is still adored by most...i dont see why it should be different for ice.
His past is his past, he's a new person now (according to him) and i believe him.

ooooooh I've just remembered who is the worst rapper I've ever heard.
One of my all time favourite groups are called The Ramones and the bassist called Dee Dee Ramone made a rap album.
It is one of the most embarassing things I've ever heard.
