Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

its just a weak diff, not really a problem with the clutch... A Clip comes off so one of the pinon gears flys out the box smashing its way through whatever is in the way, Which kills EVERYTHING. Horrible thing to happen so near xmas. I hate gearboxes!

8 grand budget, do i go for a zetec 1.25, or a Corsa vxr, decisions decisions. (Vxr so cheap with traders discount) But insurance would be a killer at 18.

1) Bit of a difference between a 1.25 Fiesta and a 1.6 turbo VXR...
2) I wouldn't spend anywhere near that much on what I presume is your first, or very close to it, car.
3) Why post in the ST thread? :p

Been driving this back from Portugal...

Having naughty thoughts!

I remember when my gearbox exploded. I managed to get a 2nd hand one for £450 but it cost me about £200 labour plus £150 for a clutch. I was gutted as it went just after xmas.

Shortly after that I sold the car as I didnt trust the gearbox.

I wish I didnt sell the car as it was really good and it made an awesome sound. hopefully it maybe up for sale again and I might buy it back

I am getting a little worried about all this talk about gearboxes going but it's the first I have heard of it so hopeful won't happen to me :).

Plus side just had the Mountune CAIS fitted and the noise WOW. I am debating the 165 kit so went with the CAIS for now so can be added at a later date.

What's the proper way to use the clutch then?!?! Got me paranoid now :o

How could dodgy clutch-work cause the diff to explode anyway? :p

Fair one :p

I thought i read that your clutch went. Have you managed to source a box yet? Should be plenty about i would have thought.

Someone was selling one on FFST some months ago, not sure if its still about though. Have you been sivving through all club sites?

Worst thing is about the gearbox was that there was no warning. I did have the car for a year before it went.

Best option is to upgrade the box then get some more power mods. I was pushing about 165bhp before it went bang.

Some people have never had the issue and the car has clocked over 100k it just down to luck.

Just ordered a box from the auction place.

Thinking of going down the LSD route just to give me piece of mind if nothing else. What's the best option, Quaife?

In short, better at putting the power down when going around a corner. Skip to 2:20 for explanation.

The LSD transforms the car IMO. Best mod I done after mr200.

That's EXACTLY what I wanted to hear, thanks. I'm actually serious... loads recommend it but no one ever says if it's actually any good or not! *relaxes* :p

Actually quite looking forward to it now, at least something good will come out of this. Coming at a price though, the LSD alone was £620! Plus the box, bearings, seals, clutch kit... Xmas is cancelled :( haha

Not doing too badly considering I was not going to mod it... Hmmm, could do with lowering it though...

If you are foot on the gas (hard), dont expect the wheel to self center... first time that happens its brown pants moment. I "knew" it would do it, but still done it to see what it was like, never again! :D You can apply throttle so much earlier than people without one, you can corner harder too, probably more to do with confidence that one. Very expensive mod and caused no end of trouble for me but i still wouldn't go without.

In other news, has anyone changed there thermostat at all? mine is stuck partly open.

Lsd is a fantastic mod. You can be a proper lunatic with it....front end traction is sooo much better!

In other news....I sold my ST today! Hope I dont miss it...but I fancy a change. Going to view a nice looking Honda s2000 tomorrow!
