Who here owns a Mini?

Not covered under warranty, and apparently couldn't possibly been pre-existing damage as it would have been flagged under their approved car inspection.
you've had it just a couple of weeks though ? had you kept it in a garage ? we had mice in ours, but I'd doubt they would be outside in winter.

it's down to mixing different types.
yes I believe it's the mix of cheaper ethyl glycol or ethanol variants
which is why after flushing/siphoning the 3er tank last year - I'm exclusively buying the ethanol ones - bought polygard specifically

And whose to say when the Garage inspection was done. Could have been a month ago and sat on the forecourt.
Without a doubt. I'm not happy about it, but resigned to the there's not much I can do.

On the hopefully unlikely chance that I need any further dealer support during the warranty period, then it'll be going to a different dealer even if it means travelling the 30 miles to either of the next 2 closest dealers.

Not had any problems with any of the other cars I've kept in the same place over the last 15 years either.
garage accusation just sounds preposterous - mice aren't looking for nesting opportunities at this time of year exploring body panels on cold outside cars,
did they present you with any pictures showing their detritus (I'd demand that) - which would probably show it couldn't be during your brief ownership.

I had mice chew my power steering cables on my F56. Gave me intermittent power. Was during winter

....... had actually been looking at a countryman yesterday (hence had looked at this thread) f54/100kw/b38 - garage actually revealed the vin number,
is the below site definitive for identifying if it had needed a recall for crankshaft bearings which seems to be a common issue

e: looks like bearing issue was categorised as a quality enhancement so isn't a recall lol

Would it not be the case that the newest of that model is now at least 7 years old (2016?) and any failure would be relatively early in life and have occurred?

Now the risk of that part failing is as high a chance as anything else?

yes , maybe - 80K miles £8K manual gearbox - caught my eye, out on a run - any additional info for free courtesy of VIN# is interesting to gleen.

Yeah I thought the steering was mental heavy. But I thought it was that level across all modes. The one in my Clubman Cooper s is so much lighter and prefer it. I think it has the auto variable rack.

If I remember correctly when I had the F56 JCW I could select the the normal steering weight instead of it going heavier in sport? Have you got options? It may have been the dampers though can't remember. Though it was always responsive and fast. Never felt slow as you mention. Did you come from a Fiesta though? I bet they have faster racks.

When I had the JCW though I felt normal mode was responsive enough. Most of time when pottering I was just in eco. Throttle is super sensitive in sport. Same as in the Clubman Cooper S.

On another note having so many Ratios in the Clubman bring the B58 alive. The 8 speed auto with its short ratios really sling shot the car relative to its weight and power. Glad it's got decent paddle shifters for when I want to override some downshifts and even up shifts.

The B48 with the 8 speed felt smooth and creamy like a 6cyl when jumping from the b38 6psd auto in the F56. It's amazing how different your car feels when you spend a day in another car.

The LCI2 didn't have the custom driver modes like the models before it. So I'm and stuck with what each mode has. The rack in the fiesta is much faster! That car is in storage.

The 8 Speed is fantastic! Just don't put it into sport gears and floor it, the thud is quite disconcerting!

Has anyone else had issues with drive train errors on there Mini / Clubman? Our JCW Clubman has a drive train error for the 3rd time now, the first two where related to the waste gate and it always seems to happen when we have a really wet period of weather.

It is going to Mini again but wondered if anyone else had experience of this..

Mine's a 2016 car and then plastic trim is still in a decent state. I actually found Turtle Wax flex wax to give a nice sheen to the plastics and make it water repellant. Best thing I've used so far for trim in my 5th year of MINI ownership.

I
Is it this bottle?

Thanks

Washed mine at the weekend and noticed someone has scuffed the rear bumper. It’s quite low down but on the corner as if they’ve done a bad job getting out a parking spot. A smaller than 5p mark where it’s chipped.

Some scuffing most of which polished out in a very quick go over today using meguiars 80 on a yellow pad, being careful as it’s quite shaped there and some bits will get more pressure than others.

BMW/Mini don’t sell touch up in Sage Green…

It’s annoying but inevitable which is annoying in itself.

Any recommendations for aftermarket touch up? If it looks fine from 6ft that will be acceptable.

My JCW has been sat up for a few months now with a dead battery and the drivers door lock was seized. Last time I started it it was running rough and I just haven't had the time or energy to do anything with it until the other weekend. Some WD40 PTFE spray on the door lock and I was in - I removed the battery and charged it over night and put it back in, started the car and still running a little rough. Turned it off and back on again and it ran fine so took it for a spin and remembered why I bought one, such a fun little car to drive. Still runs rough on a cold start, so I've ordered a new fuel pump from Neo Brothers (£720 vs €1180 + VAT from MINI here in Ireland) and will get it booked into a local specialist to get it changed along with a full service and a few other niggly things sorted, and, fingers crossed it'll hopefully solve my P2885 code, too.

If it's all sorted, plan is to get it in somewhere for a paint correction and ceramic coat. Also want to get the wheels refurbed, replace the G Wing (it looks like someone cleaned it at some point with some sort of strong TFR and it's bubbled up, also quite wobbly) and the GP rear diffuser as it's cracked somewhere. I can then enjoy it for the marvellous summer of rain we'll likely get

Have you got your car back yet Armageus?

I ordered some touch up from Amazon from MG Prime in Germany - BMW/Mini don’t do it in Sage Green…..

Seemed to be reviewed well and perhaps better quality (claimed to be OEM) than one of the many UK paint shops which seem to be little more than a man in his garage and have very mixed reviews.

Anyone use the built in sat nav? Is it any good or better just to use apple maps?
I have when I didn’t have phone signal in a remote area and I wasn’t 100% of the direction.

Worked fine, shows the next turn to take in the speedometer area too which is an advantage I guess.

Otherwise I use google maps almost exclusively.
