Who here owns a Mini?

Not much to report for me, 6 months in with the countryman. the average MPG has taken a hit with winter and short journeys, 39.2 now and 5500 on the clock. Nothing broken or gone wrong, just works…

Done a few trips to the tip & to pickup some timber recently, good boot size helps, but need to work out the best angle for 2.4m timbers to fit in, I cut them down to 2.1 to be on the safe side. Used to be able to angle them across the old car and into the passenger footwell so they were both wedged in & also out of the drivers way.

It’s that or a roof rack, but it’s so infrequent I’d use it and the timber place is about 1.5 miles away so not far to go either.

Great start - ended up calling mini assist after filling up with fuel and ending up with a puddle of it on the floor.

2 hours later and the mini assist man thinks it's the seal to the fuel sender - safe to drive after the fuel had evaporated but will be dropping it into mini tomorrow :(
Rang mini this morning, and spoke to the least interested woman ever. Whilst I appreciate it's not going to be fixed on a Sunday, apparently they couldn't even offer me a courtesy car because only the service department can arrange that.

If I get similar treatment from the service department tomorrow then I'll be asking for the dealer principal :(

I've had worse courtesy* cars.

*Courtesy in the loosest sense as they didn't have any available, and after some begging ended up in a demonstrator. Apparently Mini Assist would have sorted a courtesy vehicle for me if I'd asked - but how was I expected to know?

Mine is at least in as "urgent" as it was classed as recovered by Mini Assist

Haha not bad. I can just about tell that's a fake JCW given the S badge on the side?

I hate that they put JCW badges on the front now when it's not a full JCW car.

I got a full fat JCW Countryman when I gave my car in. That was a lump.

Given my car is an AUC, does that mean I have mini assist too? Edit. So that's breakdown cover and curtesy car? Nice if so.

As far as I know it's the 230hp JCW. It's got an auto box, flappy paddles, makes a great noise and shifts well :)

The latest (2019+) JCW Countryman (and clubman) are 300hp same as the JCW GP Hatch.

Yep should have a years breakdown cover (and apparently as I now know, they should be able to sort a courtesy car for you)

As I said, you could get non JCW cars with JCW trim bits and bodystyling for ages. It's nothing new or recent.

The fact that it even fooled Armagues into thinking his CC was a full JCW is crappy on MINIs part.

Well - now know what's wrong with the Countryman - apparently mouse damage to the fuel delivery module.

Not covered under warranty, and apparently couldn't possibly been pre-existing damage as it would have been flagged under their approved car inspection.
I'm 99% sure it was pre-existing (as there had been a slight smell of petrol since I picked it up - but didn't think much of it, and I can't obviously prove it)

Should be a £900+ bill but dealer is going to contribute around half.

Thats not what i said at all, the John Cooper Work specs have been around years, i know that. Its this silly SPORT and EXCLUSIVE paths you can take the generic MINI models.
They just replace the “packs” of previous generations though don’t they?

It’s a trim level of equipment some of which is exclusive to that path, sport is suspension and possibly seats, exclusive has leather as standard and gives some different options with wheels etc.

The countryman JCW is the quickest off the mark of any mini model as it’s AWD.

Not a great result Armageus, difficult to prove either way, can’t see why you’d have mice eating away at such a component but can’t argue if it’s quite clearly that, as it’s going to be different damage to rubbing (which shouldn’t occur anyway). At least you have a car to use in the interim even if the bill is a bit painful.

Yep sadly one that I'll have to largely chalk up to experience and move on - even if I was to try and go down some sort of legal route, or even reject the car and find another i'd still end up out of pocket by more than the repair is going to cost

(In hindsight had a reported the ever so slight smell of petrol before this had occurred I might have got somewhere, but I suspect they still would have stood by their "we did a professional inspection as part of the approved used process")

The dealerships' attitude has been shocking though, although once the warranty is up I'll be using the mini specialist I bought my R56 cooper from for servicing and the like
