Who here owns a Mini?

£100 is roughly 25% cheaper than the main dealer. There's no Mini warranty any more, but it does have a full Mini service history.

The specialist is TWG Automotive who only do BMW and Mini.
Personally I'd have no issue in using them - even if it does show up on the service history, the next owner can google them and see they are a bmw/mini specialist.

Yep, F56. It doesn't look hard, just time consuming and needing to register it. Thanks for the heads up about Carista. I was looking at Bimmerlink.

Last time I changed a battery (on my Corrado) it was about £60 for the battery and around 5 mins to swap it.
I did the battery on my F54 back in November. Easy enough but a little tedious.

Hi

I have a 10 plate Cooper Diesel, seems there's debate about the the engine in this model, is there anyway I can tell by looking at the engine whether it is the PSA one, or the BMW one? - I ask because the PSA one has a belt that needs to be changed, the BMW one as chain that doesn't.

I'm at 92,000 right now, can't find any definitive answer as to when a belt would nbeed changing - can anyone advise?

I have contacted Mini they were no use.

Enter your VIN at bimmer.work

Should tell you the engine model.

Does anyone know anything about resetting the adaptations in an R56 Mini?

My missus is having an issue with the S/S in hers, where it struggles to start again. The battery is reasonably new and it starts perfectly every time from cold with the ignition button, but not with S/S. I've told her to turn it off in the mean time but would like to get it sorted.

It had the thermostat housing replaced not long ago after a rough idling issue and since then the stop start has been flaky. I found this post online with exactly the same issue and previous repair and apparently resetting the adaptations sorted it.

Be worth checking that the coolant temperature sensor is working, that would affect things

Other than vanos (on non-s models) and throttle body I'm not sure what adaptions can be reset (and wouldn't have thought either of those should affect stop start)

It appears to be working as it's sorted the previous issues. It looks like I need the ISTA software or reader to do a reset so might have to see if I can find someone nearby to pay to do a reset for me.

My warranty is about to expire on my 2016 Clubman. Got the extension letter through and priced it up. £500 quid not too shabby for a year's comprehensive warranty. 100 excess.

I am surprised yours is that expensive, I think mine was about £150 less. It's a 3 door hatch but I had assumed they'd be the same price, obviously not.
